Currently I have a PIII 450 mhz and I've been given a PIII 600/512/133.

My book says that frequencies above 100mhz are not supported. Will this
processor still work on my board? How do I set the jumpers for it?

I'm not trying to overclock the processor, I just would like to run it the
way it was designed to.

Current setup is:
PIII 450
2 Maxtor 13 gig hd's
3dfx Voodoo5 5500 Video Card
256 MB RAM
5X DVD Rom
Running Windows ME

Thanks for any info,

To keep the 440BX chipset in-spec, and the memory/AGP/hard drive/etc. buses
in-spec,
you can run the CPU at 100 MHz rather than 133. However,
you won't gain anything, since the multiplier lock on the CPU means
that it will run at 4.5X100 or 450 - same as your current processor.

Your board probably has the option to run the CPU bus at 133, which
would give you 600 MHz - but it will also force the memory to run
at 133 MHz (if you have PC133, that may work; if it's PC100, it probably
won't),
and will force the AGP bus to run at 89 MHz (rather than the design of 66).

So - final analysis: you need to replace the board with a unit that has
an official 133 MHz bus supported.
