I need to resolve an issue on a Compaq 2240 Presario that utilizes the
82371SB PCI (Bus Master) chipset. OS is Win95

I have a yellow bang on both the secondary and primary controllers
(fifo) although the drivers for the 82371SB PCI Bus Master controller
is identified and loaded. I also have access to the HDD on the primary
controller so don't know really *why* there is an alert on the primary
controller.

anyway, the CDROM connected to the secondary controller isn't
recognized until I can get this issue resolved.

Is this a job for some kind of Intel update utility?

thanks for the help
Jeff

That indicates that the protected mode drivers failed to load. Under the
Performance tab, does it say that one or more drives are running in MS-DOS
compatibility mode?

Intel Bus Master IDE Driver page:
http://developer.intel.com/support/chipsets/bm/index.htm

Check the troubleshooting information and download the INF_BM.PDF
document. It gives solutions for this problem.

This helps usually:

Start REGEDIT
Search for NOIDE, if found, delete the key
Close REGEDIT
Reboot
