Thank you for contacting Intel Technical Support. Bus collision maybe
causing an inadvertent write and corrupting your memory. Are you able to
run a test and write protect the byte in question? What mode is the device
in when the byte is corrupted? What is the state of the RP# pin? The RP#
pin should only be brought high when both Vcc and Vpp have finished ramping
up and should be brought low before dropping the voltage on Vcc. The RP#
pin low will keep the device in a low-power stand-by mode and prevent any
possibility of spurious writes.
An application note titled "AP-617 Additional Flash Data Protection Using
Vpp, RP# and WP#" provides detailed information on preventing spurious
writes and can be downloaded from the web at
http://support.intel.com/support/flash/memory/bootblock/apptech.htm - I
hope this helps!
