Currently, I have a wallplate with active ports for two seperate University
networks. The 2 networks do not "see" each other, in any way except for IP
addresses.
I have a HP Jetdirect 170x outputting print jobs sent by network A, to a
laser printer, via parallel/centronics port. Unfortunately for us, our
building only has 1 "network A" port, and it's quite a distance, so
whenever we tell our headquarters print server (in another state!) to print
to this printer, we need to walk through a few buildings to get it.
Network B is a subnet within our University's network. I'd like to find a
way to make the Network A port (or the JetDirect attached to it) print to a
printer attached to Network B.
In other words, it would be nice (but perhaps not possible) to plug the
JetDirect box into a Network B COMPUTER, so it could print to any printer
shared to Network B.
I know I can do this with a wireless print server, but I don't want a
wireless solution.
Does anyone know of this is possible?
Thanks for any info!
-Mike
