Hello,
I recently received a Dell Inspiron 3800 laptop and I want to share the
internet connection with my Gateway PC. How do I set this up? My Gateway is
downstairs and I want my Dell upstairs and I want them both to share the
internet connection. I have been looking at wireless networking kits, but I
have no idea what they mean. Please if anyone could help me on what to buy
and basics on how to set it up it would be most appreciated. Thank you.

1. network
you can try to put in a coax cable. that's much cheaper (kit cost
'bout $40), and its not sucha thick one. should fit in with
electricity cables that are already there. if you're not sucha diy'er,
take wireless, but its expensive.

2. internet
once you have the network set up, it doesnt matter anymore what kind
of kit (coax / utp / utp-with-hub / wireless) you used. now its
software.
ive been told that windows does it for you (if you use windows, that
is), but sygate is another program you might try if the standard
windows share-connection stuff dont work

Hi,
I am sharing a DSL Internet connection with my computers. Used
Linksys Etherfase Cable/DSL router. Has 4 ports for LAN computer
connections and one to the DSL line. Also acts as a fire wall, and
DHCP server. Cost me $179, but should be available now for $140 or
so.
Needs Lan cable connection to all computers.

I am using WEBGEAR PCMCIA adaptors, old series at 2mbs, over 2.4 gig
wireless. Shares internet fine using WINme ICS.

Cheap and effective, 2mbs may seem slow for network but Internet connection
still on 56k modem which is alot slower.

Cheap, only cost me $239 Australian.

Can take laptop any were in house good value.
