LDVP Support after the 30th

I just spoke with Symantec, while getting upgrade prices I asked how long
LDVP 5.03 will be supported. The sales guy checked and told me that pattern
files will be supplied on their web/ftp site, but Symantec will NOT be
providing ANY support for LDVP 5.03, only NAV 6 Coprorate Edition.

What's the deal with that????

Also the sales rep said that NAV 6 Corporate Edition is only a 6 month or so
temporary solution until NAV 7 Corporate comes out.

This is Symantec's statement:

Standard, warranty (541) phone support for 5.x.
We will provide support for 5.0 and 5.01 to the best of our ability, since
Intel no longer provides support and we do not have availability to any
Trend updates.

We will "almost" insist that the customer download 5.03 (as it's
free) to upgrade and to stay current with virus defs.

Support for 5.0x also includes the client-only version included in LDMS
(LANDesk Management Suite).

The end date for phone support on all 5.x versions will be October 30,
1999.
