We upgraded our enterprise to LDVP v5.03, and most clients were upgraded at
that time. I have found a small group of clients who did not get the
upgrade. Their server has been upgraded and is running fine. I have
checked the server (netware v3.12) in the Landesk administrator app, and it
is set to automatically install and I hit the "force upgrade" button a few
times.

When I remove VP from my own workstation and log into that server, I get the
new version just fine. Since these clients (windows NT4 workstation SP4)
are not automatically updated, I tried to run vpremove.exe from their
workstations but I get the following error (install message box pops up):

Setup failed w/error code (2), setup was unable to install the application.

I checked the services applet in control panel, and stopped the landesk
service. I also stopped pscan5 in the devices applet. I then ran
vpremove.exe again and got the same error.

Since the service and driver were not running, I tried to delete the
c:\program files\landesk directory but received errors because .dll files
were in use.

I tried removing the app through the add/remove programs applet in control
panel, but that did not work either.

I then disabled the service and driver, rebooted the workstation and tried
to use vpremove.exe and got the above error again. I also tried to delete
the c:\program files\landesk directory again but I got the same .dll files
in use, so I couldn't get that either.

Please tell me how I can get rid of version 5.02 so I can upgrade these
clients to v5.03. I don't mind doing this at their machines, I would just
really like to be able to remove the product!

Thanks in advance,
E

Hello
This problem sounds like a rights issue. You need to be a ADMIN on the local
workstation to add or delete services.
