I would like to know how the sale of Landesk Vprotect to Symantec affects my customers. I have read the press release and recieved a copy of the letter from Symantec explaining the terms of the sale, but some important issues have been left unanswered.

Who will be responsible for pattern files for LDVP versions 3/4/5 in the future?

Will future pattern files be available?

When will Intel discontinue support of LDVP?

For customers who just purchased LDVP 502, will Symantec honor a free upgrade of the yet to be released Symantec product that incorporates LDVP management features?

Why will Intel continue to sell LDVP 502 through 12/31/98 if it is a dead product?

I have been a big supporter of the Landesk Virus Protect product. I understand the sale in products and technologies, but I believe Intel has done a poor job of protecting my customers investments in Intel products. Intel has made my job very difficult for those clients I have recommended this product and other Intel products to. The question I am facing, is what Intel product will sell off next.

Processor and motherboards, Intel.
Network Management solutions, elsewhere.

We are a customer of Intel. We have implemented LDVP V5.02 (SR2) on Windows NT
servers and Novell Netware 4.1x servers (over 50 servers).
Because of that we just asked the same questions like you before. From Intel we did not get the real answers to our questions. But from Symantec there were some helpful "hints":
Symantec plans a new release of Norton Antivirus. This release, which is release 6.0, is called "Norton Antivirus V6.0 for LANDesk" and implements many (all?) features of the currently LDVP 5.02 (global management, etc.). This version of Antivirus should be released at the end of 1998 (Info from Symantec).

I hope this Information can help you and your customers a little bit!

From your previous mail i think you are feeling fine with the LDVP V5.02. We have currenttly some problems with LDVP 5.02 on Win NT4.0-Servers. There is a mail in the intel forum from today (from me!), can you help us on these problems???

Thanks for reading it!

Hello,

I have sent a copy of your message to Intel Management. I can only refer you to our web site were we have posted some answers. I also believe in the product. I believe we have a good decision by combining technologies.
