I have two servers that should form a (MS Windows) cluster. The
heartbeat connection is made via an Intel Pro/1000 PT adapter on both
sides. The adapters are connected via a normal (not-crossed) cable.
Everything runs fine (i.e. there is a connection, all diagnostics
pass) until I manually set the transmission speed to 10MBit/half-
duplex (which is recommended by Microsoft for heartbeat connections).
After changing the speed, the adapter driver tells me that the cable
no longer plugged in, and the diagnostics tell me "no link".
I guess I'd have to tell the driver that one of the adapters should
use MDI-X, but I can't find this setting inside the network card
control panel.
Any suggestions?
