I am supporting a number of systems running with dual Intel Pro/100+
management adapters. The systems consist of 8 workstations with static
IP addresses connected to two Netgear switches to provide fault
tolerance. The workstations are running Windows XP embedded.

All the network adapters appear in Windows listed as 'Intel Pro/100+
management adapter' with part number 618106-015 with an Intel 82559
controller.

I am in the process of setting them up with Proset II to use adapter
teaming. All the workstations I have set up so far are working fine,
with the exception of two:

One workstation gives an error message 'Trying to team only client
adapters is not allowed. At least one of the team members must be a
server adapter'. Having googled this error message implies that this
relates to a hardware issue (ie wrong adapter), but I can't see that
this is possible in my case unless Windows is misreporting the adapter
part number? All the workstations are cloned from the same drive image
and should have the same adapters. Could you get the situation where an
incorrect adapter is fitted, but it still works and is still reported by
Windows as being the correct adapter? What would be the best way to
check this?

The other workstation locks up (and stays locked up until power cycled)
when you press 'OK' to create the team. I tried uninstalling the network
adapters in device manager, then when I tried to reinstall them, the
workstation locked up again. What si the best way to resolve this?

Many Thanks

Chris.
