Help!

My problem: When I choose "shut down" in the Start menu, the computer
re-boots. I have yet to see the "computer is ready to shut down now"
screen. Once "shutdown" has been selected the computer acts as if
"reboot" has been selected. I'm using an 350W AT power supply. Any
ideas?

Standard behaviour for Win98 shutdown problems, along with freezing on the
shutdown screen. Simplest solution usually is to disable Fast Shutdown in
msconfig.exe/advanced. If that doesn't work, search for 'Win98 shutdown
problem'.

May be unrelated, but I had an HP that did the same thing. Discovered
that a file that HP adds to Windoze to allow the shutdown to
power-down the system had become corrupted/changed when I installed a
Windoze service pack. Got the original from the HP web site and it
cured the problem.

Go To microsoft.com and search for Shutdown Supplement and that will fix it,
and before that try disabling fast shutdown by hitting START, RUN, msconfig,
then click the ADVANCED button and click disable fast shutdown, restart the
computer, the first time it may not work because it hasta change the
settings by restarting, but after youy have restarted, shutdown the computer
and if that doesn't work email me back.
