when was the last time that you blew out the dust in your computer... I'm
suspecting that it's built up on your CPU heatsink/fan and is causing your
CPU to overheat.

I've blown out the dust many o'times...
one shitty thing about the board is that with how the AGP slot is located
and the processor and the power supply and the 5.4 bays are all in one
corner and it creates kinda a box around the processor which im sure does
not allow much airflow...also if i turn this box off for like 1/2 an hour
and turn it on the fan makes a very loud grinding noise for a while then
eventually goes away...so do u think if i replace the processor fan and take
out the dust with a fine comb it may help???

sure. i'd recommend you take the whole system apart, clean the contacts of
all the plug-in cards, memory sticks, processor etc with clean alcohol.
then reseat everything.

this is in addition to what above posters have suggested.

what o/s are you using? do a defrag, or, in the case of win2k/xp - do a
disk cleanup, followed by chkdisk, followed by a F8 boot (safe mode) and
defrag from there - it will be more comprehensive that way.

if above general tweaking does not resolve problem, then you should start
suspecting hardware peripherals for imminent failure. memory, hard disk
(back up!), motherboard, processor ... these components last, but they are
not immortal.
