C440GX+ 550 shows up as 450

Hello,

I've just upgraded my C440GX+ from PII 450's to PIII 550's (don't
laugh, it still serves its purpose). The bios shows them as 450's as
does the OS. The intel CPUID utility shows reported frequency of 450
and expected frequency of 550. I've got the 8.1 bios (latest I
believe). I set the bios to retest the cpu on next boot, still show up
as 450's. I'm not aware of any jumpers on the board for changing the
multiplier. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.
