I have an (old) Gateway 2000 P-75, which originally came equipped with an
Intel Pentium chip running at 75mHz. I replaced that chip with an Intel
Pentium 233mHz MMX chip, but have not noticed any difference in processing
speed. I thought I would see a world of difference.

Does something else need to be configured internally or software- or
system-wise, e.g., the BIOS, in order to take advantage and notice a
processing speed change? If so, how do I go about it?

Please advise, and e-mail response directly to saic...@interaccess.com.

Thanks experts!

Hey RHW maybe the system needs to know about the new chip. If it works okay
and you made the right changes to the jumpers including the multiplier
setting, then go on to checking the RAM etc. If you have Windows95 and just 8
or 12 megabytes of RAM then you should at least double it, maybe quadruple it.
Do whatever the board and your budget will allow. A lot of people have slow
modems (get a 56K "hardware" modem or even cable or DSL or Speedchoice for
microwave downloads of internet content). Some people have really cheap
unsuitable 128k or 256k video ram; it should be 1 or 2 mb for basics or 6mb or
better for some gaming and other graphics/drawing activities, even higher if a
persons budget allows, for best gaming other graphics intensive activities.
