slot 1 celeron500 chip carrier to p3 800

Have a celery500 chip on slot 1 carrier. I have a better motherboard , but
it doesnt have a socket 370 for the p3 800, just the slot 1.

Can I put the p3 chip in the celery chip carrier to slot1 and use it in my
better motherboard ? (VT6X4).
Attempts so far have not been successful. One thing I noticed is the chip
is 1.7V and the min. the chip carrier indicates for jmp selection is 1.8V
but that shouldn't be that big of a factor.
