Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but are the Mobile Pentium II's and
III's pin and form factor compatible?

I have a Gateway Solo 9300 with a 400MHz Mobile PII and have been told that
I can take it out and plug in a 650 MHz Mobile PIII. And what is the MMC?
The mobile PIIIs on eBay talk about MMC and MMC-2.

Thanks,
Dan

As far as I am aware all Solo 9300s used the MMC-2 (Mobile Module
Cartridge 2) package and therefore you should be able to interchange
freely.

Look at http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-009864.htm
for details. MMC-2 was used for PII, Celeron & PIII from 266Mhz to
1GHz.

Thanks Richard. I'm going to give it a try. I've ordered a 650 MHz MMC-2
unit from eBay.
