pentium II 300mz upgrade

Hi all

I have an ancient PC with a Pentium II 300mz CPU it is now struggling to do
more than surf and handle e mail.

I am relunctant to junk the whole system if only for enviromental reasons.

What if any CPU would plug straight in ?

If you need any more information please let me know, any help much
appreciated
