Can someone please help me with some ACCURATE information, please:

I have an ASUS P4GE-V socket 478 motherboard, using Intel 845GE
chipset, with 533MHz FSB. I currently have a 2.0 GHz Intel processor
in it. I would like to upgrade to one of the newer Intel processors
with hyper-threading technology. The only 533 MHz processor with
hyper-threading technology is the 3.06 GHz Intel CPU. Intel processors
that support hyper-threading technology for 800 MHz system bus are:
3.20 GHz, 3 GHz, 2.80C GHz, 2.60C GHz, 2.40C GHz, and 533 MHz system
bus are: 3.06 GHz

Can I use one of the 800 MHz Intel processors in my 533 MHz 478
socket? I understand that the processor will only run at 533 MHz. Will
it work OK, or will it more than likely damage the CPU or
motherboard...???

Thank you.

Cameron
