I am wits end... The computer manual says it is upgradeable. I've upgraded the Bios to V2.08. There were no jumper changes rquired.

My sysmptoms are that after the msg: Pentium running at 83 Mhz. and once memory check is complete, the msg: Starting MS Dos never appears and the cursor remains at the top left and blinks.

I suspect that there is someone in this world that has gone down this path. I hope help will arrive to help me and this wonderfull little computer.

Thanks,
Tony

Tony,

Are there jumper settings in the manual under "CPU Type" that refer to P24T, P23T, 487, or "OverDrive?" If there is, try this setting.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks Steven for your concern but there are no references to any of your suggestions. Looks bleak..

Tony,

Try reloading and or updating the video driver. Give us what jumper settings you have and the
nomenclature that goes with them if possible.

Hello Randy,

Sorry for the delay. Computer was down.
The video is built on the motherboard. There are no jumpers other than to disable internal video and the color/BW.

I still feel there is a config statement needed to point to the processor. The processor runs to the point of just before loading DOS.
Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony,

I was speaking of the processor jumpers... I know Steven touched on this.
According to data about your system on the Upgrade Guide at http://www.intel.com/overdrive/upgrade/index.htm as below

Check BIOS Rev. Jumper
changes required. Requires
BIOS 2.05 or higher to upgrade
with Pentium OverDrive
processor. Obtain BIOS
upgrade from AT&T BBS:
800-692-8872 - Under Library
3232E, file name:
G515B205.exe.

You need to make jumper changes. I would contact your support desk to find these jumpers.

Does anyone else out there have this system?

We had the same system and the same pentium overdrive processor and
were having the same problems with the system hanging. It's not so bleak!
There is a jumper, J18, located about two inches left of the processor. J18
is not mentioned in the book. Move the jumper to 2 & 3 on J18. Just
follow the other jumper setting listed in the book. It works! JK1 I think is
the only other one that had to be changed. Good luck!
