get a faster cpu if your board supports it.look for jumper
settings for diffrent cpus.

Buy a new processor if your board supports it. If not, there are overdrive
processors from Intel and Evergreen (using AMD technology) that should
improve performance. My advice would be to buy at least a Pentium class
system if you're running Windows 9x. They can be had for very cheap
now-a-days.

I got a pentium with a overdrive mmx 150 cpu, 48mb ram, 4mb
video, supra56i modem, awe64 sound card, 2 cd-rom drives for
$7.00.
