I've just replaced the Intel Pentium Overdrive 166MMX chip in my 1996
vintage PC with an Evergreen Spectra 400. It seems to run about twice the
speed, which should keep the kids happy, although installing it was about 50
times more difficult than installing the Overdrive!

I'm now wondering what to do with my old Overdrive chip, which itself was an
upgrade from my original 100MHz Pentium. 100MHz systems were never that
thick on the ground - 75MHz and 90Mhz Pentiums are more common. Will my
Overdrive chip work with m/boards intended for chips running at these lower
speeds (albeit I'd expect the result to be less than 166MHz)?
