128 MB 3d Cards?
3dFx has revealed plans for there new line of 3d cards. The
voodoo 4000 & 5000 are now in there new projects. The new cards
are supposed to have up to 128 mb of video ram. I was at Comdex
yesterday and happened to goto there showroom and browse around.
As an Intel user i don't think i'll be using any 3dFx stuff as it
seems they are trying despertaly to gain market share of a dying era.
While speed used to be important, now days why play a fast game but
have to sacrifice looks.
Consumers want looks and game play. I know i enjoy playing games in
32 bit color and it would be lame to goto 16 bit just for a few extra
frames per second. Realizing this 3dFx must think that offering
outrages amounts of ram will win us over. Well i for one don't care if
they offer 128mb or not because what games will need that much memory
and run on the mid-range end user computer?
Lets all hope Intel has plans for the future that will keep the
interest they have and gain popularity in the 3d card market.
