I just bought a BOXED Intel Pentium III 500 Mhz to upgrade my existing
Pentium II 233 Mhz but it seems it does not work (no sign of life at
all).
I put back my PII 233 and that works so it must be some issue with the
brand new BOXED PIII.
I get no beeps at turn on of computer and screen is all black, not even
the bios loads, nothing at all.

As I said, when I put back my PII 233 after trying to install the new
BOXED PIII everythig worked as usual.
Is the NEW PIII I just bought a dead one ?

I checked Intel Web site and all they have is a toll free number for
the US) but as I am currently out of the country I cannot call that
number.
I wanted to e-mail their Tech support for Pentium IIIs but I found no e-
mail address whatsoever on their Web Site.

Can someone help me out in providing it to me ?
Or, if anyone from within the US could kindly call their 800 toll free
number explaining my problem and ask for an e-mail address to give to
me, so that I can e-mail them.

My Motherboard is a MicroStar MS6119 (440BX) and I DID contact the
manufacturer before buying the PIII and they said that the Motherboard
does support the PIII 500 Mhz, I only had to download a file for the
AWARD Bios upgrade from their Web Site (which I did and installed
BEFORE placing the PIII).

When I turn on the computer with the PII 233, the information that I
get of the AWARD Bios is the following:

Top of Page
Award Modular Bios V. 4.51 PG
W6119MS V2.7 111199

Bottom of Page
06/16/1998 - i440BX-W977-2A69KM4AC-00

Thank you for your help, if you have experience of similar problems
please e-mail me (sg...@cornell.edu) with hints on what might be wrong
here.

Thank you very much again,

Silvana Grandillo
