The recently discussed pair of manuals and accompanying disks are on my Google Drive at this link:

I anticipate leaving the files at that location for the rest of April.

Both manuals are 'modular' in that the shrink wrap was in sections. The ASM96 manual contains slightly earlier versions of both the MCS-96 Utilities User's Guide and the Floating Point Library. The iC-96 manual contains later revisions of both these sections. Given the complexity of the Utilities manual, I copied it in both directories (there seemed little point in scanning the earlier version).

The scans result in large files (intended to be ...) suitable for duplex printing.

The disks are available as 360kb DSDD and 720kb DSDD images in ImageDisk format. If other formats would be more suitable, please advise.

Bitsavers has larger collections of disks that appear to relate to both ASM-96 and iC-96.

Regards

Jon

There are still empty directories in those archives - is that expected?

Hi Steven

Thanks for the advice. I've uploaded the missing PDFs.

With the iC-96 manual, the sections had dividers that needed to be scanned separately. As a result, the first PDFs were section-by-section. These smaller files are contained in the sub-directories. The content is the same as the (large) PDFs in the top directory.

Regards

Jon

Hi all,
The link to google drive does not work. I found the MCS-96 documentation online, but iC-96 manual has blank pages (only separators). Maybe someone out here has good iC-96 user manual.

Regards.

Hi Laimonas Mušauskas

I have uploaded the set of files for individual chapters to my Google Drive.

The link to give access to the Google Drive directory (MCS-96) containing the iC-96 Compiler User's Guide for DOS is:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1o-D_8aRM5gzWB56cXE-pCaS38eficOnz?usp=drive_link

It would be helpful if you could confirm when you have found the files - AND whether these files are the document you wanted to find. When I receive your message, I'll delete the directory. I'll remove the files at the end of March in any case.

In general, we refer to Intel's manuals by their Order Number, which in this case is 481195-004. It seems the set of dividers has the number 484355-001. If you were hoping to see a different document, please quote the Order Number.

Regards

Jon

Thanks, Jon,
I downloaded these files, but when I open them, they contain only 2 empty pages (with lines like for taking notes). Do I need to install some packages for Adobe to view this manual?

Not sure if I understand Intel's Order Numbers, I believe I'm Looking for 481195-004 "iC-96 Compiler User's Guide for DOS Systems"

Hi Laimonas Mušauskas

My mistake - I looked in the wrong directory.

I have replaced the files on the Google Drive with the pages belonging to each section, including pages that are blank - and without the card dividers. The PDFs are still a separate file for each section. There are 13 sections in the document.

The scans are large, to enable a copy of the manual to be printed at high resolution. The total volume of data is 463Mb.

The same link should enable you to download. If you have any problems, please let me know.

Regards

Jon

Hi,

As I have an interest in the 8096 (specifically the 80196 series) I'm also looking for any documentation and software available for it.

Jon, I hope you don't mind but I've also made a copy of the scans.  They're very clear, many thanks.

What tools have people successfully used to make convert the text in such image files into actual text to create the complete manuals such is in Mark Ogden's website that allow you to search the text?

Also does anyone have a copy of the files that Steven Hirsch published via his Google Drive link in 2024?  Sadly the link doesn't work anymore.

I have 2 87C196KBs and a demo board that I would like to give a work-out at some point.

Many thanks,

Mark

All

I have processed Jon’s scans into a single file, with OCR (text under image) and bookmarks added.

The size is now a more respectable 9MB, it can be downloaded from https://mark-ogden.uk/files/intel/publications/481195-004%20iC-96%20Compiler%20Users%20Guide%20For%20DOS%20Systems-Nov91.pdf

Note the blank back pages of the release notes have been removed, and the text quality is post Finereader processing, otherwise the content is as per Jon’s scans. I haven’t added links from the Contents listings, you will need to use the pdf bookmarks to navigate

Regards

Mark
