Subject: Invitation to Bishop Gene Robinson to Speak in New Orleans

 

V. Gene Robinson, currently a Senior Fellow at the Washington, DC, Center for American Progress, was elected Bishop of the Episcopal Church Diocese of New Hampshire in June 2003 and installed in November 2004.  He is the author of several books, including In the Eye of the Storm: Swept to the Center by God (2008); and God Believes in Love: Straight Talk about Gay Marriage (2012). As the first openly gay Episcopal Bishop, his life and ministry have been the subject of several documentary films.

 

At the 21 September 2016 meeting of Integrity Louisiana, it was recommended that we gather support to extend an invitation to Bishop Robinson to visit New Orleans and give a public lecture open to all who know of him and his work. 

 

We are writing to ask your response to the following questions:

 

1)     Would you support efforts to bring Bishop Robinson to New Orleans?

 

2)     Would you like to participate in helping to make the arrangements for his visit?

 

3)     Would you help us identify and obtain an appropriate location for his public lecture?

 

4)     Would you be able to participate in any fundraising activities to support the event?

 

5)     Would you be interested in helping to publicize the event?

 

Please let us know your thoughts and answers to these questions by Monday, 3 October 2016.
