Energy/Information medicine/psychology et al. works (surprise!).
 
As Mae-Wan Ho (Institute of Science in Society  http://www.i-sis.org.uk/index.php ) maintains, the body is a quantum coherent holonomic liquid crystaline structure. The accu system seems unique in its effectiveness but many other systems are also effective to varying degrees.
 
The "fake" version involved using toothpicks. "Another study even found that lightly touching the skin can induce some emotional and hormonal reactions, which could explain the benefit..."
