IDHCC Monthly meeting this Thursday July 28, 2022.

The International District Healthy Communities Coalition believes that health begins where we live, learn, work, play, and love.

Good afternoon sunshine’s. Join us at our monthly meeting this Thursday.

Our Agenda:

1. Updates on the Whittier Food hub/Vaccine Clinic

New dates but same times
Where to leave donations
Come check it out and tour during Food hub hours
Our Fresh veggie doners

· Covid Vaccine Clinic Update. Vaccines are free no appointment or insurance required. Walk-ins accepted and please bring your vaccine card.

Moderna available for ages 6months to 5 years old, and 18 and older.
Pfizer vaccine available for 5 years and older

A parent or gradian must accompany vaccine recipients under the age of 18. Community health workers are available to answer questions about vaccine provide other community services.

2 .Affordable Housing updates: Attention renters, we were asked to compile a “Renters Wish List” it could be anything from credit score increase for paying rent on time, air conditioning, faster response on repairs, off street parking space to Internet. Please send me your wish list. Feel free to send me your story as a renter to Hardy_be...@yahoo.com. We will give updates on this issue.

3. CiQlovia check in: It’s that time of the year again! CiQlovía is about 2 months away and we have started coordinating some on-the-ground tabling for activities during event day. If you would like to host a recharge or activity station or virtual stop along one of this year’s CiQlovía routes, (TBD- if you have a route in mind let us know!), fill out the free application below! Routes are in the International District, South Valley, Downtown, and North Valley. Street closures will only take place in the International District so plan accordingly.

4. Whittier School Supply Drive: Back pack stuffing is this Thursday 9:30-11:30 room 103 snacks provided. Drop off donations at Whittier Elementary School between 9am and 3pm. Back pack giveaway "Meet the Teacher" is August 3, 2022. -11am - 1pm. Call for resource tables. Call Bernadette H at (915)887-7140 to have a spot or someone to pick up donations.

We have 50 more free fruit trees for a fall planting event in the ID- there are going to apple, peach, pear, and apricot we have been told. Only about 26 left now. Front yard gardens or also small groves wanted. Planting event will be Oct 9. Contact Beise...@treenm.com asap to adopt trees. Volunteer Planters also needed. Tamar will furnish a link. Bernie can we use Whittier, or momma, or ECM to stage?

Join Together for Brothers (T4B) to recognize the boys and young men of color, families and community partners for the T4B 2022 Summer with the Brothers Celebration on Monday, August 1 from 5:30-7:00pm on Zoom at bit.ly/brothersreachigonline. Interpretation is available if requested 48-hours before the event.

The brothers will celebrating Youth Leaders, Youth Organizers and other youth consultants who participated in the Art Making, Biking, Community Justice, Cooking and Transit Equity cohorts and circles. We will also be recognizing community partners and funders for their collaboration and support from May to August 2022.
