Help for licence renewal

Dear Friends,
We are working in our area and come into contact with IRDA mainly for
licence renewal.Many surveyors after filling the form of renewal do
not know what is status of his renewal. IRDA office bearer do not
cooperte. I have taken the help of surveyors of Hyderabad Mr Anoop &
Mr raju for helping to know the status of renewal. We got help and I
am thankful to them. At this period some insurer stop giving work to
him and he is more worried. From IRDA office or IIISLA office there
must be arrangment that documents recieved confirmation by sms or mail
& liking date of sending new licence. we must make such arrangment.
your opinions required?

I have got my licence renewed, without any glitch at all. The IRDA officials were very cooperative. They renewed my licence well in time. They have fixed up time slot  for the surveyors, and expect them to call them only in the given time slot which is 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The concerned people even remembered me by name, took my mobile number and even promised to call back, in case they felt some documents were extra required.

I hence differ from your experience sir.

Dear Mr. Naresh Kukkar,

It is normally taking anywhere between 30 - 60 days (varies from case
to case) for renewal of license after receipt of the renewal
application at IRDA end. In certain cases, the applications are not
complete and do not provide complete information. More particularly
the data on the works carried out. In such cases, the IRDA is
calling for the info from the surveyor. This is leading to entering
into correspondence and further delay.

I suggest the following steps to all the surveyors to minimise or even
eliminate the problem areas:

01. Send the application for renewal atleast 120 days in advance.

02. Send the application per regd. post ack due. Retain the receipt
and also ack. on receipt.

03. If you do not receive the acknowledgement card, say within 15
days from the date of posting it, write a complaint letter to the post
office and ask them to confirm the delivery of the document. They
will do it.

04. You can even send it per SpeedPost. But you will not receive any
acknowledgement. You can track the c/ment online and know the
delivery particulars.

05. Make a check list of all the documents and make sure that you are
not missing on anything. Whether it is the documents or the
information to be provided.

06. Try to be ready with your performance report atleast 6 months in
advance and keep updating it till the date you send the application.
Pls provide the true details for IRDA officials are cross verifying
the details provided with the insurer's. Any wrong information
provided will only delay the renewal process for it may lead to
correspondence or even visit to IRDA office, if summoned by
officials.

07. After sending the application, wait for 30 days, and then send an
e-mail reminding the IRDA officials quoting your SLA no., and the date
of your application and regd. postage or speedpost receipt no., the DD
no., etc.

08. Pls try to avoid calling IRDA officials over phone, unless it is
utmost necessary. Just send an e-mail to Ms. Sudha Ramanujam, Dy.
Director (Surveyors). Her e-mail ID is sud...@irda.gov.in. The
name of the officer who is now looking into surveyors license renewal
is - Mr. T. Kiran. His e-mail ID is - t.k...@irda.gov.in. He can
be contacted, if necessary, over phone and the phone no. is (040)
23381100 - Extn. 197. They will reply to you.

09. Pls. try to be polite when you are speaking to the officials over
phone or sending them an e-mail. The officials are real good and
they would like to help.

If one will follow the above steps, there would not be any scope for
last minute anxiety and tensions and loss of works after the date of
expiry of license. On the contrary you will find the license renewal
experience is a very easy job and also a pleasure dealing with IRDA
officials.

Pls. share and pass on this information to all the surveyors known to
you in your area. This info may be useful to some of them.

 Dear Friend.

                    I have also gone through this trauma, Its is correct the office bearer firstly donot attant the phone calls if attand the commen reply is the person is no in hic cabin. In my openion the period of validity of licence to be increased say 10 years, and also as soon as IRDA recived the licence for renewal. They should confirm it by mail to all the insurerer, So that insurer cant stopped the work of the surveyor.

surveyors. But If we request the Irda officals to send one email to
surveyor along with if some thing is missing it will be a good gesture

 I found the officer T. Kiran of IRDA surveyor depatt. very helpfull & guiding the surveyor for renewal of linense.My ealrlier observation reg. the attitude of the officer of IRDA has been completely changed after talking with Sh. T.Kiran. He is very help full .I feel sorry for my earlier coments reg. the officials.

We do not know the manning schedules with operational flow charts of the act of risk management for the surveyors Licence renewal adopted norms but we are more thankful to the concern person of the issues Mr. T Kiran/ & ors of IRDA , Mr Raju, Mr Anoop as help full & guiding the surveyor for renewal of license.

But we can calculate the frequency of the surveyor licence renewal of the numbers licence ( Proprietor 12547 & Corporate 2450 i.e. total 14997 nos in five years i.e. in average 10 renewal per day)

Further we can avail the frequency distribution analysis of the licence renewal with respect to date of the expiry of the respective licence so that we can calculate  required numbers of the working staff of surveyor's department month wise.(i.e. manning can be easily formulated after getting data of operation check list format flow charts / & statistical data of last 5 years claims country wide)

This is to inform you that these are happening all due the Crisis Management and Communications IIISLA Management.

Crisis management is a critical organizational function.  Failure can result in serious harm to stakeholders, losses for an organization, or end its very existence. and it create create three related threats:  (1) public safety, (2) financial loss, and (3) reputation loss

inspite of our crisis we are thankful to IRDA chairman who have already taken steps for online automation of surveyor department and allotted the assignment to Mahindra concern with reserved tender value i.e. 28 or 48 crs.

We hope it will be sorted out in near future.

But what I was wanting during my last manifesto of the IIISLA election 2007 that Total online solution for the surveyor to give support to IRDA on not only surveyor's department but also others department for claims analysis through www.iiisla.org

In order to protect the green world, most of the developed country have already introduced code of online transaction in insurance industry and minimises the paper print out wastage.

and in near future we will be compelled to follow the same with such addon expenses.

we hope, we should understand the needs of IIISLA with only on self regulation but still we are afraid about the different stagnant situation of court cases and it's due course effectiveness.

With due respect to all, please note that I have applied for the renewal online on 13th February and dispatched the desired documents by Speed post. On 19th February I received e-mail of license renewal confirmation. Though Hard copy is yet to be received. e-mail is produced below:

This shows that there no delay in renewal of license from IRDA side, I feel we need to put our renewal application with due diligence.

             You have submit application online with uploading supporting (Scanned) documents, then take Printout of all the Form-12 as you submitted online & also the submitted Form-5 AF. Then send all the hard copies with DD (200 + 12.36% ST) to the Delhi IRDA Regoinal Office (Address of the same is given in the IRDA website). Also follow the instructions for sending mail of the Scanned Hard Copies to b...@irda.gov.in
