Dear friends
After it becomes compulsory to follow minimum hours of training, seminars are popping up from each place . Its very good sign that surveyors are learning more and enjoying quality time with fellow members . Although I suggested that now everybody is doing online  seminars and even magazine like insurance times is doing online seminar. I joined it and found it good for community, why not IIISLA thinking  on these lines. My second submission was dress code for seminars. Blue trouser, white shirt and IIISLA tie. We are so fixed in it that now even corporate are leaving tie and  we are still following old tracks. I liked one thing that RKE was in local dress at the time of protest in Delhi. If we can not work on local dress at least tie should not be compulsory in my opinion.  it should be removed from dress code. Views of other brothers required.

Mr. Naresh Kukkar,

We have different ethnic dress styes from place to place and from state to state.  If we allow people to come in any and every dress as per their local habits, then we will have a fancy dress show at seminars or professional meets.

I would not say that someone has to wear a particular color trousers or a matching shirt.  But the least I expect is members attending the meets and seminars in a presentable formal dress.  To give the look of a professional.  A formal trouser and a matching formal shirt should with polished formal shoes be prescribed.  Tie should be made optional as not many surveyors know how to tie a know and not many would be comfortable wearing a tie, more particularly in warm and hot places.

Wearing local or ethnic dresses, wearing chappals or slippers, T-shirts, jean pants, sleeveless shirts, shorts, lungis, dhoties, etc. to the seminars and professional meets should be banned.  Several hotels and also recreation clubs do not allow guests or even members who do not follow their dress code within their premises.

Let us not quote or take inspiration from our politicians or imitate them.  During 2 or 3 day seminars and residential programmes, you have evening get togethers.  There also there should be a simple or casual party dress code.  Not someone walking in with his night dress, or a track suit, or a short and a sleeveless shirt.

Regards,
S. Anoop Kumar.

Dear Friends,

Sushilji & Nareshji,

Let us understand why dress code is required.

In my view dress code is required for:

[1] Uniformity
[2] Unity
[3] Identity
[4] Having feeling of equality
[5] Uniqueness

As far as my knowledge is concern "The dress code was/is suggested one, not compulsory one."  We the surveyors having various levels of earning and hence having different ways of living including clothings. During seminars to fill this gap, dress code is applied.

Dear friends,

I do agree with Mr. Anoo Kumar's suggestion regarding the dress code. The quite contrast colour combination Black pant and white shirt dress code looks very odd . I have attended some of the seminars participants were without shoes. I personally feel, it is particularly worn certain people in South India. Instead of that, any dark pant and a white shirt or a navy blue shirt with shoes and a tie may be suggested by IIISLA Seminar organizers.

Good logic.

But wearing tie of IIISLA logo is too much....

Better have no dress code.

Just remember the old saying :: Goddess of wealth Lakhsmi Devi and Goddess of knowledge Saraswati Devi cannot co-exist except in the Durga Puja Festival.

And if possible have the proof in the seminar hall !! dress code will not allow you to have the proof.

Minimum we can do is to wear a dark Trouser, and any light color shirt, with formal shoe; with or without a Tie.

This gives a semblance of order. Walking in with local attire may not be a good symbol of professional attire of a National level Body. Let us not emulate the politicians.
