Dear Sirs,

We would like to know, whether Student membership is mandatory for getting Licentiate membership in IIISLA, as some of our Trainee Surveyors, who has completed one year training, failed in III exam and continue to appear for the III exam while working as employees in other firms are now inquiring about the necessity of IIISLA STUDENT MEMBERSHIP, We would like to know whether Student membership is granted to such employees / what are the guide lines /practices followed in such cases in different parts of the Country.
From the IRDA notice dated, 23rd January 2015, all trainee applicants are advised to obtain student membership immediately after the enrolment is approved and system generated mail is received confirming the enrolment. No application for fresh license will be considered without IIISLA student membership/IIISLA membership.

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Sir,
Besides what the regulation says, IIISLA members should practice what is best suited for the profession.  I fail to understand how any practicing surveyor can accept to be a Trainer to any of the Employees.  It is upto the members positioned at various levels to take a firm stand, while signing as Supporters, Trainers; to deny back door entry of Employees into the profession.

Members are happily signing as supporters, and expecting the various functionaries of IIISLA and admin to deny membership to such employees.  Instances of certain Trainers recommending the membership of IIISLA to the Trainees under them have come to light, and such instances need to be curbed and discouraged by proper investigation.

It is upto us to build an Institution based on ethics, while honouring the provisions of Act and Regulations.

Regards,
dcs raju, hyderabad.

Dear Friends,

In West Bengal nobody is signing for student membership for those who are employed with any other employer. Before signing as supporters or before signing as IIISLA authorities, we are asking for employers' details. Even information are being asked from his friends/ local surveyors etc. Only the unemployed and genuine candidates are getting their documents signed. Surprisingly only a very few requests come from unemployed or genuine candidates, major portion of the requests come from Insurance employees.

Members of other states are requested to give a thought into this and prevent the profession being hijacked by employee licenced surveyors.

With regards

Tanmoy Sarkar

Dear Sir,

For more clarity on the topics raised, I would like to summarize the points as follows:

1.Some of our Trainee Surveyors, who has completed one year training, failed in III exam, then left the trainer Surveyor, joined as employees in other firms and continue to appear for the III exam are now inquiring about applying for Student membership; we would like to know whether it is necessary for them, as they are now employees how can we grant Student membership, since they have completed one one year training whether they should resign the current job and continue full time training till passing of the exam ?

2. Some of the trainees recently passed the III Exam, also inquired about applying for Student membership/Licentiate membership of the IIISLA for getting Licence from IRDA.

3. Why not the IRDA insists for  IIISLA-Student membership, before enrolling trainees?

4.I think instead of the current practice of issuing Licence for Student membership holders after passing of III Exam, Licence should be issued after obtaining Licentiate membership in IIISLA.

We would like to know our members opinion, and the current practice followed in such cases.

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Members,

After completion of training period the trainer have no control over the trainee.  If one completed his training period what prevent him to go for employment, when there was no clear rules.

To my knowledge IRDAI insists student membership while enrolment as trainee and for issue of license.  But IIISLA insisted for enrolment number to register as student membership.  Hope the issue was solved

A person is eligible for membership when he have a valid license.
