Dear Members and Friends,

The next event is the Founders Lecture from NifCo on Tuesday May 6th, about the development of injection moulded parts for the automotive sector.  The company will describe its growth and the development of its integrated product design and manufacturing capability.  They have a new factory at Eaglescliffe.  Please find attached a corrected poster with May 6th on it!  My apologies for any confusion caused.  If you can circulate this, or print and display it, that would be much appreciated.

Usual venue at the Centuria Building.  Please park in the Sage car park, P10 on the car parks map, link below

Dear Members,

Please note the Special General Meeting after this lecture to ratify some changes to the CIE Objects and Rules.  Please find attached a version of the proposed Objects and rules, the new clauses are Section 5, item (viii), and Section 9.  They are to do with the finances of the CIE.  They are required by the Heritage Lottery Fund before they will give us any money for our project to make the CIE Archives (back to 1864) available to the public on a website.  Please attend the SGM and vote to accept these rules.

(The CIE printed proceedings and Minute Books are kept at the Teesside Archives, and a second copy of some of the proceedings are kept at the Middlesbrough reference library, and are available for the public to look at.  They are a rich source of information on the industrial heritage and social history of Great Britain during the Industrial Revolution, and up to 1942.  Some of the volumes are in a very distressed state, and the need for conservation is urgent.  Internet access to these documents will give benefit to a much wider audience, and help to preserve the originals.  There will be an exhibition and more information on this at the Heritage Conversazione planned for September 23rd.  More details in future.)
