Dear Members and Friends,

A final reminder for our Annual Conference on "Methods of Power Generation" starting at noon (with a buffet) on Tuesday April 16th.  Many Thanks to those of you who have already registered.  If you want to come and haven't registered yet, please let me know before April 8th.  Subjects covered range from coal to wind farms to fracking!  A poster for this is also attached, and if you could print and display this, that would be much appreciated.

The venue is our usual one, the Centuria Building, No 56 on the University Campus map  --->  http://www.tees.ac.uk/docs/docrepo/about/CampusMap.pdf
We will use the Middletown car park, for this event which is a pay and display car park (£1.50p)
P23 on the Campus Car parks map --->  http://www.tees.ac.uk/docs/docrepo/about/CampusCarParkMap.pdf

If you park along the narrow bit of this car park alongside the sports field, there is a footpath down to the Centuria Building.

The CIE is hosting the Regional Final for the Young Persons' Lecture Competition, on Wednesday 27th March, with the contestants shown below.  If you would like to come and give your support, you are most welcome.  The event starts with a buffet at 1pm, and the competition starts at 2pm, finishing around 5:30pm.  Please let me know if you would like to come, for catering purposes.

It is also time to be thinking about the CIE Award, which is an annual competition for a written paper with a prize of £400 for the winner and £100 for the runner-up.  Details and rules are on the attachment.  If you can circulate this and bring it to the attention of other Institutions, that would be much appreciated.  Deadline for entries is 1/5/13, so not long!

FILM

There is a film called "This Working Life: Steel - Men Of Steel" showing at the Tyneside Cinema this Sunday (31st).  Scenes are described as being shot at "Acklam Steelworks in Middlesbrough".   It's from the British Film Institute Archive, so is probably quite old.
