LAWS OF COSMIC MAINTENANCE AND EVOLUTION

As I have already said in a

previous post, a definite indication 

of an awakened state of consciousness 

is when a man sees new connections 

between the observed impressions 

recorded in his psyche as a result 

of separation from false bridges 

between those same impressions 

stored in centers in connection 

with events of personality 

formation during early life. 

"As soon as the three-brained

beings of our Megalocosmos,
irrespective of exterior
coating, acquire any
degree of self-
awareness,
they begin
to dream consciously
or instinctively of
going to Holy Planet
Purgatory, so that
later they may have
the happiness of
becoming a
particle of
that Greatness
with which sooner
or later every
essence is
destined
to blend.

"And for the realization
of these dreams of theirs,
those three-brained beings
who have attained a greater
self-awareness always eagerly
and even joyfully accept those
unpleasantnesses to their
presence coming from
privations suffered
by their planetary
bodies during their
ordinary being-existence,
because they well understand
and instinctively feel that
their 'lower being-body' is,
in their own sacred cosmic
law of Triamazikamno, the
indispensable source of
denying manifestations
of all kinds, and as
such must always
manifest
itself
NEGATIVELY
toward their
affirming part,
in other words,
the manifestations
of this lower part
of theirs must necessarily
always be opposed to what
is required by their
highest being-part.

FRICTION

"Thus every wish of the
planetary body is taken
as undesirable for the
highest divine part that
has to be coated and
perfected, and that
is why all the three-
centered beings of
our Great Megalocosmos
constantly carry on a
relentless struggle against
the desires of their planetary
bodies, so that through this
'disputekrialnian friction,'
as it is called, the sacred
crystallizations should be
formed in them for the arising
and perfecting of this highest
divine being-part."

For any of our internet
interactions to have any
value must strictly manifest
along the evolutionary line
of divine psychological
warfare . . . not the
ordinary organizational
life-of-itself cause,
crusade or agenda kind
of psychological warfare
that most people are
blindly and mechanically
caught up in for not
wanting to sacrifice
hate, negativity, ill-will,
jealousy, envy, neurotic
impulses, DOOM-and-GLOOM

delusions, and all forms of physical

violence, etc.

The great danger is that if
one is caught up in the exoteric
form of esoteric teaching as well
as tabloid doom-and-gloom "reports"
about comets and comet fragments
hitting the earth, etc., through
lack of self-remembering,
inattention to a higher
obligation if any, and
insufficient assimilation
of right understanding of
sacrifice rooted in higher
purpose, one will merely
activate a lower level
astral form something
like an okidanokh
tsunami reverberating
through outer world wide
web space. 

"And so, my boy, the chief
peculiarity of the Omnipresent-
Okidanokh, in the given case,
is that the process of 'Djartklom'
proceeds in it within the presence
of every being also but not from
being in contact with the
emanations of any large
cosmic concentration; but
the factors for this process
in the presences of beings
are either the results of
the conscious processes of
'Partkdolg-duty' on the
part of the beings themselves--
about which processes I shall
also explain to you in detail
later-- or of that process of
Great Nature Herself which
exists in the Universe under
the name 'Kerkoolnonarnian-
actualization,' which process
means 'THE-OBTAINING-OF-THE-
REQUIRED-TOTALITY-OF-VIBRATIONS-
BY-ADAPTATION.'"

In other words, everything
will become mechanical

Try to observe your feelings
of disappointment, anguish,
frustration, worry, depression
and a variety of other negative
emotions and states such as envy,
etc., and then acting them out in
connection with how you relate to
others, how you behave with them,
etc. All of this can readily be
seen by way of this fourth way

method of reading and writing

by progression how it is that

these same participants behave
in ordinary life where they live,
move and have their "being."

Gurdjieff said that the
chief method of self-study
is self-observation. If
self-observation is not
properly applied, then
there will never be any
understanding the proper
connection and correlation
between the languages manifesting
mechanically in the confusion of
tongues of those that are not
aiming for the middle but are
stuck somewhere on the left
or the right.

There can be

no real self-change

without real remorse. 

And you will feel some

real positive emotion

because of it. And also, what 

is important to understand is 

that by following a method of

some kind, by following it 

continuously, consistently

and persistently, that you 

will have the needed energy,

as Gurdjieff has said, "for 

the possibility of continuing 

to work with the intensity of 

striving and power of action 

upon yourself which alone 

permits the transmutation 

of oneself from this 'nullity' 

into that 'something,' which 

you ought to have been 

according to even your 

own 'good sense'" as can 

only lawfully proceed by 

method.

Pythagoras taught that all 

things are numbers. The 

universe is built on numbers 

as Pythagoras taught. All creation, 

all of our created universe, at 

whatever level, seeks to return 

to its source. According to the 

Law of Three, or 3, or the 

Trinity, it is seen that the 

number ONE is in 3, but 3 

cannot get back into ONE, 

and so on. Divide 3 into
ONE and you will see that 

3 goes into 1 .3 times (that is, 

into 10) and leaves 1 over. 

Again it goes 3 times and 

leaves 1 over. 3 into 1 = .3 

recurring endlessly. The 

Trinity, or 3, is eternally 

seeking to return to its 

source, the Absolute, or 

"Unity," because it always
reproduces itself, or remembers 

itself. This is a mathematical
description of the idea of 

self-remembering.

It was during the earliest

period of the universe that

only the Sun Absolute existed, upon

which resided His Endlessness Above 

together with his Cherubim and 

Seraphim. The Seraphim are

mentioned in Isaiah Chapter 6:

1 In the year that king Uzziah died 

I saw also the Lord sitting upon a 

throne, high and lifted up, and his 

train filled the temple.

2 Above it stood the seraphims: 

each one had six wings; with twain 

he covered his face, and with twain 

he covered his feet, and with twain 

he did fly.

from Isaiah Ch 6

and also in Ezekiel Chapter 1:6

the Cherubim:

"And every one had four faces, 

and every one had four wings."

and:

Ezekiel 1:10 "As for the likeness of 

their faces, they four had the face of 

a man, and the face of a lion, on the 

right side: and they four had the 

face of an ox on the left side; they 

four also had the face of an eagle."

During this earliest period of 

the universe it was noticed by

His Endlessness Above that the

action of the creature called TIME

was directed solely at His World the

Sun Absolute and shows why the Sun 

Absolute had to create another world 

in order to avoid being swallowed by 

the MERCILESS HEROPASS as is

said by Gurdjieff in Beelzebub's

Tales.

His Endlessness Above decided to

isolate "Time" in a way that it would

exist within everything. In this way, it

would be contained within matter instead

of existing apart from, and continually

constituting a threat against the Sun

Absolute Itself.

His Endlessness was forced to alter

the basic laws under which the Sun

Absolute operated. In the beginning

the Sun Absolute required for its

existence only one self-sufficient

independent Force formed of the

two primary laws, Law of Three

and Law of Octaves. Our Creator

Endlessness Above was constrained

to add a third law called Entropy to 

the two main laws so as to equalize

their actions against one another. It

was owing to this third law that the

self-contained cosmos was transformed

into a cosmos depending almost entirely

on externals.

The first of the two primary laws of

world maintenance was the Law of

Three-foldness consisting of the

three sub-laws:

Holy Affirming

Holy Denying

Holy Reconciling

The second primary law which had

formerly maintained the Sun Absolute,

the Law of Octaves, consisted of a 

continual process of involution and

evolution proceeding simultaneously

and can be formulated as "a force 

which constantly deflects according

to law until it ultimately kisses its

own lips".

"There are two processes
which are sometimes called
'INVOLUTIONARY' and
'EVOLUTIONARY.' The
difference between them
is the following:

"An involutionary process
begins consciously in the
Absolute but at the next
step it already becomes
mechanical ... and it becomes
more and more mechanical
as it develops; an 
evolutionary process 
begins half-consciously
but it becomes more and
more conscious as it
develops. 

"But consciousness and
conscious opposition to
the evolutionary process 
can also appear at certain
moments in the involutionary
process."

At the time when the decision was

made to alter the laws to which the

Sun Absolute was subject, His

Endlessness decided to re-direct

the Law of Three and the Law of

Octaves to "emanate outward" from

the Sun Absolute and this is simply

because external matter could not

just come from nowhere-at-all.

Up to the time when the decision

was made the two primary laws

confined themselves with the 

Sun Absolute which created

corresponding reaction when

encountering themselves

reflected from the lowest

formation of cosmic

substance.

The resulting emanations could not

vivify the Holy Reconciling Force, so

Our Endless Creator Above was constrained

to vivify the third force through the force of

concentration of His Own Will, creating 

from the said emanations what are specific

fixated points, which gradually began to

form certain Solar Bodies, and these

Solar Bodies began to automatically

emanate from themselves in a 

similar way but on a second

grade order.

As soon as the continued emanations of 

the Second Grade Concentrations were

thus "guaranteed", it was no long necessary

for His Endlessness to take an active part

in Creation. The lower order Second

Grade Concentrations automatically

continued the process of fragmentation

because they functioned mechanically

by way of "reflexive response" to 

outside forces.

The first two basic Primary Laws of

the universe became periodic in nature,

following the Law of Octaves within

solar and planetary lower order 

creations. New solar bodies in

relation to each other became

positive and negative and the

Sun Absolute acted as the

neutralizing force for

emanations of the new

solar concentrations.

Additional fixed points of "new format"

began to be formed around the second

order concentrations. It is from this

activity that tertiary solar bodies 

were formed, thus helping the

automatic process of creation

to proceed completely

automatically.

And because of the Law of Octaves,

smaller formations formed themselves

down to the smallest possible

concentration.

The Law of Octaves completed its major

external cycle, and continued to evolve 

and involve simultaneously within

smaller planetary atmospheres. Other

bodies could voluntarily evolve with 

the accumulation of substances from

higher levels.

And so, all substances proceeded automatically

to rise and fall on the scale of evolution and

involution respectively, from which came 

the result of transference of substances 

from one cosmos to another; reciprocal

feeding in which the Sun Absolute

participates.

Each solar, planetary, lunar and

cellular colony serves this process

sometimes as food and sometimes

as a transformer of substances.

The idea from Above is to help 

evolution, for the eventual regulation

of lower level cosmoses inaccessible 

to Him.

In the process of preparation for the

help for Himself He organized certain

conditions, among which was the 

possibility that within planetary

atmospheres other bodies could

form from substances of higher

cosmoses.

After a while, when astral bodied

beings began functioning and the 

organic machine had adapted itself

for the formation and activation of

functions of higher center of gravity

formations, a third higher body, or

"mental body", gradually began

appearing within these second

organically produced bodies.

The substances necessary for the 

formation of this third higher body

were results of emanations coming

from second-grade solar 

concentrations. Only in this 

third higher body can higher

gradations of evolution be 

attained.

The formation of the second and

third bodies of Beings called "three-

brained beings" arose in this way:

After seven scales of cosmoses had 

become mechanical machines regulated

by organic reflex for the purpose of 

passing substances and forces through

themselves back and forth involuntarily

on involutionary and evolutionary ladders

as Gurdjieff said on page 145 of In Search

of the Miraculous: "The conditions to insure

the passage of forces are created by the 

arrangement of a special mechanical
contrivance between the planets and 

the earth. This mechanical contrivance,
this 'TRANSMITTING STATION
OF FORCES' is organic life
on earth. Organic life on
earth was created to fill
the interval between the
planets and the earth." .  .  . so to speak,

three kinds of substance began forming

in bodies of the first type, called "men",

intended to function independently for 

the formation and transformation of 

their higher bodies, and also as

machines for the transformation

of substances between higher

cosmoses. 

In short, man formed the membrane

between all higher and lower parts of

the reciprocal feeding process for the

whole greater cosmos as Gurdjieff 

continued to say on page 145 of

In Search of the Miraculous: 

"Organic life represents
so to speak the earth's
ORGAN OF PERCEPTION.
Organic life forms
something like a
sensitive film which
covers the whole of the
earth's globe and takes
in those influences coming
from the planetary sphere
which otherwise would not
be able to reach the earth."

and:

"HUMAN SOCIETY IS A HIGHLY 

SENSITIVE MASS FOR THE RECEPTION 

OF PLANETARY INFLUENCES."

And since these three-brained beings were

not only individuals but also cosmoses, they

could pass through themselves both evolving

and decaying substances in the process of

reciprocal feeding.

Since three kinds of substances resulting

from higher cosmoses happen to be present

in and around man's Organic Body, the

said substances are available for use by

him according to his ability to put them

to use for his own egoistic aims. 

One such substance is formed directly as a

result of radiations of the planet. Another is

the result of emanations and radiations

proceeding from the sun and also from

all other planets within the solar system.

Still another substance is formed as a

result of all emanations coming from

every sun in our Universe, including

the Sun Absolute.

Man is made in the image of God ...

not as he understands it, but in exact

similarities.

Everything within a man is formed

precisely according to the organization

and function of the Megalocosmos. He

has a head-brain, corresponding in 

function exactly to the Sun Absolute

in relation to the Megalocosmos. His

brain cells form the same function as

those souls who exist presently on 

the Sun Absolute.

A man has spinal nodes or fixated

points ... second-order solar concentrations.

These fixated points are resistant to the

Law of Triads, just as are all second-

order solar concentrations.

The solar plexus forms a gathering

of the nodes of the nervous system,

into which all results of powerful

impressions resulting from self-

remembering whether intentional

suffering or accidental being-duty

struggle are drawn. And just as the

affirming and denying of cosmoses

higher and lower clash together, so

do forces passing between the head-

brain and spinal marrow, resulting 

in the neutralizing of their triads,

just as the creation itself

neutralizes the trinity of 

forces of the Megalocosmos,

that is, there then proceeds what 

is called 'Remorse' and is a process 

when every part that has arisen from 

the results of any one Holy Source of 

the Sacred Triamazikamno, as it were, 

"revolts," and "criticizes" the former 

unbecoming perceptions and the 

manifestations at the moment, of 

another part of its whole ... a part 

obtained from the results of another 

Holy Source of the same 

fundamental sacred Cosmic 

Law of Triamazikamno.

"They themselves call
these separate localizations
in their common presence
`nerve nodes.'

"It is interesting to notice
that most of the separate parts
of this being-brain are localized
in them, just in that place of
their planetary body where such
a normal being-brain should be,
namely, in the region of their
breast, and the totality of these
nerve-nodes in their breast, they
call the `Solar Plexus.'"

Man uses three types of food for

maintenance and renewal of sources

of each of the three functioning centers-

of-gravity of his machine, each having

three different densities of matter.

His first ordinary food is obtained

from planetary substances. The second

type of food is derived from the air he

breathes, composed of various 

substances radiated by both his

own planet and by all other planets

of his solar system.

In addition with these are substances

derived directly from emanations of 

the Sun Absolute.

Organic man cannot assimilate higher

substances because he does not use them

voluntarily whereas every effort of struggle

with involuntary manifestations by "evolving

man" can provide the friction, or fire, 

necessary to allow for impressions 

stored in false centers to pass 

over to real centers, or inner 

divisions of centers, all of which 

is connected AS ONE MASS by 

way of the physical nerve nodes

localized and can be physically 

sensed as one mass in what is
called the solar plexus.

When higher substances are used

by the moving-instinctive "center-

of-gravity" of the machine in an

unconscious way, they serve only

for the continuation of the species

and also generally for lower forms

of organic reciprocal feeding. It is

as Gurdjieff said that .  .  . 

" .  .  . chiefly owing to the already
mentioned abnormal conditions of
being-existence gradually established
by them themselves, they have entirely
ceased to fulfill being-Partkdolg-duty,
then, in consequence of this, none of
those holy sources of everything
existing, with the exception of
the denying source alone, is
transubstantiated for their
own presences.

"The crystallizations arising in their
presences from the first and from the
third holy forces go almost entirely
for the service of the common-cosmic
Trogoautoegocratic-process, while for
the coating of their own presences
there are only the crystallizations
of the second part of the Omnipresent-
Okidanokh, namely, of the 'Holy-Denying';
and hence it is that the majority of
them remain with presences consisting
of the planetary body alone, and thus
are, for themselves, destroyed
forever."

Because non-evolving organic man does

not ordinarily have a real necessity for the

conscious assimilation of these higher

substances, and because he does not

form in himself the real necessity

for creation and maintenance of

a higher body, he uses air only

for ordinary maintenance of

the organic physical body

alone.

For these unconscious uses of

higher substances which happen

to be present automatically in his

atmosphere and organic body, it is

not necessary to interrupt his self-

calming even for a moment, that 

is to say, nothing is "transubstantiated"

from the crystallizations arising in 

him from the first and third holy

forces.

At the present time what is true

for the vast majority of humanity

on the Earth is that there is not any

effort nor is there even any awareness

of the conscious use of second food. For

this reason the conscious use of second

food is a complete luxury. Not only is

this considered the most important

sense and meaning of human 

existence, but it is the only

sense and meaning of human

existence and it is for this reason

the voluntary ingestion of this 

nourishment is called "taking

communion", or "Helping

God".

Substances derived from air passing

through the mouth and nose are decomposed

just as is first food. In the lungs this substance

is transformed to the next higher octave,

assuming automatically all fundamental

properties of matter of the higher level

cosmos, thus are able to mix easily

with matter resulting from the

transformation of first food 

into "Third-Octave-Substances".

After mixing they are transformed

further into "Fourth-Octave-

Substances".

Part of these is spent for the maintenance

of the physical body. The other remaining

part, along with other substances forming

another more complex mixture, collects 

in the cerebellum. This resulting 

substance is called "salt of 

essence".

One part of this "essence salt" is 

spent for the higher working of the

physical body. The other remaining 

part passes through the nerve ganglia,

eventually ending up as semen. In this

way they complete themselves to the

highest degree possible for 

automatic evolution of 

substances. Without the

intervention of higher 

gradations of reason they

cannot proceed further.

The formation of the Higher Astral Body

is achieved through special, voluntary use

of these substances from first, second, and

third foods.

When the Astral Body is perfected, a 

gradual deposit of still other substances

form automatically as long as physical

life continues.

A third body can be formed by a 

process of "electrolytic plating",

using deposits of ordinary metallic

and mineral salts having different

electrical properties.

Third-body-perfected Beings of

earlier periods in the cosmos undertook

their obligations in the following way:

When their higher bodies had attained

the required gradation of evolution

according to the SACRED SCALE

OF EVOLUTION, they concluded

their business on their planets of

arising, completed their 

existence there, and allowed

the physical body to die 

naturally in the course

of time.

Then the Higher Body separated

and rose to the higher cosmos which

the substances for the formation of the

Higher Body had originated.

They continued their existence in

that cosmos while perfecting themselves

still further, then they died a second time,

during which the Higher Body separated

from the Astral Body.

The physical body, having been formed

of organic planetary elements, decomposed

within the organic planetary atmosphere.

Following the death of the Astral Body,

the Astral Body having been formed

from substances resulting from the

radiations of the planets, also

decomposed into its original

elements which returned to 

their source, the solar system

as a whole.

The Higher Body itself, having been

formed of substances resulting from the

emanations of suns, cannot be decomposed

within the solar system and therefore

becomes immortal, but only within

the limits of the solar system.

The Fourth Body continues its 

existence there until its final perfection

and, having attained a specific gradation

of Reason, becomes a genuine unified 

force-in-itself, no longer subject to

exterior events.

When three or more centers are connected

and coated, forming a higher body than 

that physical "mish-mash" known as

"man", we no longer use the term

"common presence" to describe

"presence-taken-altogether". To

be more exact, we must use the

term "Gradation of Evolution".

Gurdjieff,
p 214, views:

"Man, like every
other phenomenon,
is the product
of three
forces.

 

"It must be said that--
like everything living--
the earth, the planetary
world and the sun give out
emanations. Out in space
between the sun and the
earth there are, as it
were, three mixtures of
emanations. The emanations
of the sun, which are longer
in proportion to its larger
size, reach the earth and
even go through it unchecked,
since they are the finest. The
emanations of the planets reach
the earth but do not reach the sun.
The emanations of the earth are still
shorter. In this way, within the con-
fines of the earth's atmosphere there
are three kinds of emanations--those
of the sun, of the earth and of the
planets. Beyond it there are no
emanations of the earth, there
are only the emanations of the
sun and planets; and higher
still there are only the
emanations of the sun.

 

"A man is the result of the
interaction of planetary
emanations and the earth's
atmosphere, with matters of
the earth. At the death of an
ordinary man, his physical body
disintegrates into its component
parts; the parts from the earth go
to the earth. "Dust thou art and
unto dust shalt thou return."
Parts which came with planetary
emanations return to the planetary
world; parts from the earth's
atmosphere return there. In
this way nothing remains as
a whole.

 

"If the second body succeeds in
becoming crystallized in a man
before his death, it can continue
to live after the death of the
physical body. The matter of
this astral body, in its
vibrations, corresponds
to matter of the sun's
emanations and is,
theoretically,
indestructible
within the confines
of the earth and its
atmosphere. All the same,
the duration of its life
can be different. It can
live a long time or its
existence can end very
quickly. This is because,
like the first, the second
body also has centers; it also
lives and also receives impressions.
And since it lacks sufficient
experience and material of
impressions it must, like
a newborn baby, receive a
certain education. Otherwise
it is helpless and cannot
exist independently, and
very soon disintegrates
like the physical body.

 

"Everything that exists is
subject to the same law, for
"AS ABOVE, SO BELOW." What 
can exist in one set of conditions
cannot exist in another. If the
astral body comes up against
matter of finer vibrations
it disintegrates.

 

And so, to the question "Is
the soul immortal?," in general
it is only possible to answer
"yes and no." To answer more
definitely, we must know
what kind of soul is
meant and what kind
of immortality.

 

"As I have said, the second body
of man is the soul in relation to
the physical body. Although in
itself it is also divided into
three principles, taken as a
whole it represents the active
force, the positive principle in
relation to the passive, negative
principle which is the physical
body. The neutralizing
principle between them
is a SPECIAL MAGNETISM,
which is not possessed
by everyone but without
which it is impossible
for the second body to
be master of the first.

 

"Further development is possible.
A man with two bodies can acquire
new properties by the crystallization
of new substances. A third body is then
formed within the second, which is
sometimes called the mental body.
The third body will then be the
active principle; the second,
the neutralizing; and the
first, the physical body,
the passive principle.

 

"But this is still not soul
IN THE REAL MEANING OF THE
WORD. At the death of the
physical body, the astral
may also die and the
mental body may
remain alone. But,
although in a certain
sense it is immortal,
it too can die sooner
or later.

 

"ONLY THE FOURTH BODY 
completes all the development 
possible for man in the earthly
conditions of his
existence. It is
immortal within the
limits of the solar
system. Real will belongs
to this body. It is the
real "I," the soul of
man, the master. It
is the active
principle in
relation to
the other
bodies taken
together.

 

"All four bodies, which fit
one into another, may be
separated. After the
death of the physical
body, the higher bodies
may become divided.

"REINCARNATION is a very 
rare phenomenon. It is possible
either over a very long
period of time, or in
the event of there
being a man whose
physical body is
identical with
that of the body
can reincarnate only
if it accidentally
meets with such a
physical body, but
this can happen only
unconsciously. But the
mental body is able to
choose."
