Hi,

I've managed to install verboice using the documentation for Ubuntu 11.10 but I have noticed that there are a few things missing from the default repository that is mentioned in the wiki.

i.e. the services folder under lib directory.

Could you please advise which repository is the correct one to check out for a verboice installation.

Hi Achmat,

I think this thread First attempt installing Verboice via Vagrant may help you to get some ideas how to set up Verboice using Vagrant tool.

Regards,

Hi Kakkadda,

After posting my query I found a group that said spoke about the Vagrant install.

Finished the initial setup but once again I'm stuck with which repository to checkout, should it be stable or default.

My vagrantfile I found in the default repository and it failed on: hg clone /vagrant verboice so I'm resorting to doing the subsequent steps manually.

I've cloned from this link instead: hg clone https://bitbucket.org/instedd/verboice

Will complete and revert with feedback.

Thanks for the response
Achmat

Stable branch is the previous ruby version but now we're using default branch with a powerful concurrent call handling in Erlang

Got installed and working, much better than using the wiki instructions.

Thanks for all the help Kakada, look forward to putting this application to good use

Thanks Achmat! we've worked with cell-life in the past and would love to hear what awesome stuff you are all planning to do with it. Is it for iDart?
Cheers -

Hi Eduardo,

We will be using this for a new system entirely, an IVR system for illiterate patients and patients who can't interact via SMS.
iDart is still alive and kicking and changing into something more exciting.

Just an update,

So I've followed the video of getting a Skype SIP channel setup and done a test flow on my local installation
The problem I'm having is that calls are stuck in the queue.

The GUI Log shows this:

Received via API: call 2***********
warn    2013-11-12 12:03:02 UTC    Unable to notify the broker about this new call. The call might be delayed

and the production log does not have any errors.

Am I missing something in my configuration, the channel works perfectly on verboice.instedd.org.

Hey Achmat,
It looks like you didn’t get an answer to this. Are you still stuck or could you fix it?

Hi Nicolas,

I've managed to fix it thanks, turns out my server wasn't going past my Firewall.

Working perfectly now.

Thanks

Hi,

It seems you are using Ruby 1.8.7. Verboice needs Ruby 1.9.3. You need to update your system's Ruby to 1.9.3 or use rvm or rbenv to install it and use it just for Verboice.

What tutorial did you follow?

I found this one: https://bitbucket.org/instedd/verboice/wiki/Installation.md#!install-verboice-on-ubuntu-1204 . In the "Packages" section it says to install ruby1.9.3. Maybe you have it installed but your system is still using the old one.

Hi Wajid,

Purge all remnants of 1.8.7 and then use this command:

sudo apt-get install ruby1.9.3

I GUESS STILL ITS RUBY 1.8.7 ISSUE, AS IT SAYS *** ERROR ***: Cannot execute /usr/bin/ruby1.8: Permission denied (13)
HOW CAN I COMPLETELY REMOVE RUBY 1.8.7?

Hi Wajid,

It looks like your verboice install is still using the 1.8.7 version installed

To remove 1.8.7 completely try using:

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge ruby1.8

Alternatively you could use:

sudo update-alternatives --config ruby

and

sudo update-alternatives --config gem

It will prompt you to press a corresponding to make a particular version default throughout the system.

HTH
Achmat

Hi,

There are two things:

1. The database configuration is specified in config/database.yml. The file is probably in /opt/verboice/config/database.yml. There you will see a "production" section with the username and password of the database. You must change these to the ones you use in mysql.
2. One you put the password it said "Can't create database 'verboice'; database exists". This means that you already have a "verboice" database in your virtual machine. But you said it was a fresh install, so I don't understand how could this happened. In any case you have two options:
  a. Change the database you use in config/database.yml
  b. (dangerous) Delete the current "verboice" database. I'm only suggesting this because the database might have been created but then there was an error and this creation wasn't rollbacked. Please make sure the database is empty before deleting it.

Yesterday i was trying to validate the passenger installation. It said that passenger is not in PATH, i changed the path using echo $PATH command, it changed but on reboot it was again not on path so i reinstalled the passenger in root directory, and when i do passenger start it shows

=============== Phusion Passenger Standalone web server started ===============
PID file: /root/passenger.3000.pid
Log file: /root/passenger.3000.log
Environment: development
Accessible via: http://0.0.0.0:3000/

You can stop Phusion Passenger Standalone by pressing Ctrl-C.
===============================================================================
2014/04/23 15:52:39 [error] 4211#0: *4 "/root/public/index.html" is not found (2: No such file or directory), client: 127.0.0.1, server: _, request: "HEAD / HTTP/1.1", host: "0.0.0.0"

when i try to access the web interface it gives error:

404 Not Found

nginx/1.4.7

when i start nginx it gets open in the browser without any issue. Should i reinstall the nginx in root directory too?

Also, if postfix is already installed, you can check what's going on if you take a look to the log/production.log file. Please, copy any error you see so we can help you.

Thanks,
- Juan
