We've purchased InstallShield Professional WI edition, and are thinking
about upgrading to Visual Studio SP5.

I have ISWI version 2.02, but now that 2.03 is available I thought I'd go
straight to installing that (I have not yet used ISWI).

I've used Visual Studio Installer in the past and so am familiar with merge
modules.

My question is If I install ISWI 2.03, and Visual Studio SP5, do I need to
do anything (such as specify the path of the Visual Studio merge module
directory) to make sure that ISWI uses the latest available merge modules.
Do InstallShield ship all of the Merge Modules that Microsoft provide with
Visual Studio?

Thanks.

I don't know what MSMs come with Visual Studio, but ISWI comes with a pretty
good set. If there are any from VS that you need to use with ISWI, you can
always copy them to the appropriate directory in ISWI -- they should then be
available to you.

Not being familiar yet with ISWI, I was sort of hinting at having a single
directory for both Microsoft MSMs and ISWI ones. I don't like the idea of
copying files, as we have multiple PCs (including multiple build PCs) and it
easy to forget to copy things...especially if we put a new Visual Studio
service pack in place, or a new version of ISWI.

Under the Tools/Options menu, you can specify as many directories as you
like that contain your MMs. That way, ISWI will find any MM that you wish
to make available, and, at the same time, you won't have to move/copy MMs to
a single directory.

Exactly the answer I was looking for.

Thanks Mike.
