On my test station, I installed Windows 95B. Then, I installed
Internet Explorer 5.51 and MDAC 2.61. In my setup, I included the Jet
4.0 object. The component containing the object is selected, and the
Jet object is a required by the parent component.
The object status indicates it succeeded, but something is not
getting setup correctly. My application fails with a "Class not
registered" error. I haven't had time to determine which class is not
registered. But if I run the Microsoft Jet 4.0 SP3 installer, my
program works.
I compared the files that Microsoft includes in the installer, and
it looks like the same files that the Jet 4.0 object is supposed to
install.
I don't think I have many customers who will have MDAC without Jet
for now, so I decided to postpone handling this condition . (I did
include the Jet 4.0 installer on my setup CD in case it is needed by
someone.)
I know I could use the Microsoft installer and launch it from the
setup script, but I paid for the objects....
