If you want INSTALL SHIELD to WACK a PROJECT YOU'VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR
MONTHS,
do the following:

1. Install your registered, expensive, copy of Install Shield on NT4.

2. Installed a new OS, Windows 2000 on a separate partition.

3. Before reinstalling Install Shield on Win 2000 just "try it out",
just in case
you might be able to forgo the arduous installation process and to
retain your
prior settings.

4. Lo and behold, you might find that Install Shield just gives a brief

message about not finding
any registry settings and that it would defer to default settings
and let you proceed
SEEMINGLY NORMALLY.

5. What a great product you might think to yourself. Allowed for a
smooth transition to a new
OS.

6. Now go ahead and open and existing project ****one that you HAVE BEEN

WORKING ON
FOR MONTHS********. Go ahead and edit it for ANOTHER COUPLE OF DAYS
with
Install Shield working completely normally.

7. NOW, you will probably want to build some media........
When you do this you will receive an error message about
an uninstalled CAB engine. After clicking your only option--OK-- to
dismiss this dialog box
YOUR PROJECT WILL HAVE DISSAPPEARED.!!!!!!!!
ERASED FROM YOUR HARD DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALL YOUR HARD WORK ****INSIDIOUSLY***** WACKED BY THIS **BOGUS**
INSTALL SHIELD APPLICATION!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I'm seething but see no reason in the world why an application
would even possess the
capablilty do something like this?????????????????????????

f**king irritated...
