Is is possible to rollback files instead of remove files with uninstall?

We have created an install media that installs updates to existing files.
Is it possible to create an uninstaller that restores/rollback the original
files prior to the install, instead of deleting the installed files? Is
this functionality available in Installshield 5.5 or Installshield 2000? We
cannot delete the installed files, because it would leave the system in an
unusable state.
