invalid page fault

with disturbing regularity.
"_INS5576 caused an invalid page fault in module ZDATAI51.DLL"
Sometimes installs work without a hitch, but for the most part I get
this error message while installing - and it occurs for different CDs
at different ponits in time, which means it's not a CD problem. I can
play audio CDs perfectly well so I don't think it's a laser or read
problem.
Could anyone suggest a fix or workaround for this? For the record, I am
using a
P3-750Mhz Intel Coppermine CPU (NOT overclocked)
256MB PC-100 RAM
Abit VH-6 motherboard(VIA apollo 133A chipset with latest service pack
drivers v4.24)
20.5GB IBM Deskstar disk drive(surface scanned repeatedly: no physical
bad sectors)
Creative GeForce 2 GTS video card
Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value sound card.
