I am working on installing a program into a palm pilot. I DO NOT want to
install any files on my computer. All I want is for the install shield to
run a file. Currently it appears that I have to place a file under
components and files and install at least one file. Can someone tell me
how I can get away with not installing any files!

You don't have to put any files in your file groups. You can add your file
to the Setup Files pane, run it during setup, and it will automatically be
removed when setup is finished. Why would you use a setup program for this
purpose? You could directly launch your exe?

BTW please chose the (one) newsgroup that best fits your question, and avoid
cross-posting.

Bob: If all you are installing onto your Palm Computing device is a PRC
file, and you are not installing a conduit to your PC to sync data, the
book "Palm Programming: The Developer's Guide" by Neil Rhodes and Julie
McKeehan, published by O'Reilly and Associates covers exactly the process
you are looking for.

Although I think using install shield is the best choice. You could always
build an exe program that does the work, and install it with Install Shield,
but it is far easier to install the prc file, and set this to Sync upon your
next Hot Sync.
