Welcome to the Instagram for Android Alpha Program

Before you download the alpha app, here’s what you can expect:

The alpha version will replace the regular Instagram app on your phone.
Alpha is not for the faint of heart--features will come and go, crashes will be introduced and fixed, and designs may go through many iterations
The alpha version will look and behave differently than what ultimately gets shipped in a general release--we are continually testing and experimenting on alpha
You can leave the program at any time and go back to using the regular version of Instagram. Learn how.

Ready to start testing?
If you aren't already an Instagram Beta Tester, follow these quick steps (after joining this Google Group):

Visit this link and click Become a Tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.instagram.android
Open the Play Store app and install Instagram by choosing Update or Install
Turn on automatic updates--we'll be updating alpha multiple times per week

Troubleshooting Tips.

Google Play email address - double check that you joined this Google Group with the email address associated with your Play Store account. To see which email address to use, open the Play Store app and tap Menu > Accounts.
Error Message - if you see an error on step 2, it means you either haven't not joined this Google Group (step 1) or you joined the Google Group with a different email address than your device users to connect to the Play Store (bullet above).
Restart your phone - if the update is still not available after trying the steps above, you may need to restart your phone.
Google Play Help Center - if you completed the steps but the app still isn't downloading successfully, learn how to troubleshoot issues in the Google Play Help Center: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7513003
Push the app to your device - after joining the Google group AND completing step 1:
Visit this link [Instagram Alpha] and click Download Instagram from the Play Store at the bottom.
Some people may be asked how to complete the action, select Internet or your browser.
Click Installed -> Install or Update -> select your device -> click Install.

Due to the pre-release nature of the app, you must not re-distribute or otherwise make available the app unless we provide you with written permission to do so. Along with all the great new features available in this pre-release version of the app, there may be bugs or other unexpected behavior. To fix bugs, develop, evaluate and improve products and features and conduct research, we may collect detailed information about your device and your use of the app, which could include your location, Direct content and unsent content in the device's memory. Any feedback we receive from you will be entirely voluntary on your part and may be used without obligation to you of any kind. In addition to our feedback group, we may also contact you to request more information about bugs or your experience using the app. The app is licensed "as-is" and you bear the risk of using it.
