GoldenKeys are coveted by many Borderlands 3 players, as they're the only way to open the Golden Chest aboard Sanctuary III, which contains a random assortment of powerful gear that's always appropriate for your current character level.
Cosmetic items give you more ways to customize your Vault Hunter's appearance for maximum high-fashion mayhem. Many of these cosmetics were unlocked for everyone as part of past community events, so be sure to salute the valiant Vault Hunters who came before you! Note that the Vault Hunter Heads and Skin listed below will work on any character unless specified.
Borderlands 3 and a SHiFT account are required to redeem these SHiFT codes. If you don't have a SHiFT account, you can create one on the Gearbox SHiFT site. SHiFT accounts are free. You can redeem SHiFT codes on the Gearbox SHiFT site or via the in-game Social menu in Borderlands 3. Each code may be redeemed once (1) per SHiFT account.

Here you will find the latest Borderlands 3 SHiFT Codes that are currently active. These codes work on all platforms (PC, Xbox, and PlayStation) and provide you with free Golden Keys or other virtual goodies. I recommend using the SHiFT Website to redeem your SHiFT Codes as the official Borderlands site sometimes has some hiccups but you can always enter them in-game.
Looking for Borderlands 3 shift codes? With every instalment in the series, Shift codes are Gearbox's chosen way to dole out post-launch loot and rewards. On a pretty consistent basis, Gearbox gives away these freebies through chunky 25-digit codes redeemed at
shift.gearboxsoftware.com.
Like Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Shift codes, Borderlands 3's Shift rewards revolve around different types of key, which are used at a chest in Sanctuary to unlock shiny new guns. It's quite a bit like loot box systems from other games, except these are free. The main catch is that a good number of these Shift codes expire, and sometimes pretty quick. That's why it's handy to keep a guide like this bookmarked. We're keeping a living log of every Shift code as it comes in, as well as its reported expiration, and the occasional permanent code. There's usually at least a few codes going around that'll work.
Borderlands 3 Shift codes usually arrive nowadays in the form of multi-use codes that can be redeemed for Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Borderlands 3, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. To find them as they appear, be sure to check Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford's Twitter account, where codes tend to show up first nowadays. If there aren't any active codes there, try the official Borderlands account. In the past, codes have dropped there first.
Prior to Borderlands 3's launch, Gearbox gave out Vault Insider Program keys that worked similarly to Shift Codes. You earned them by doing things like watching trailers or following its social media.
In-game, your golden keys should be delivered to you via Borderlands mail. But how do you use 'em? That's simple: Head to the big golden chest in Sanctuary, near the fast travel point. Here's where to find it, and what it looks like:

Unlike all these other codes, I could not get this to work in the Epic Games Store version of the game. But I could redeem it on my PS4 versions, and I am hearing that Xbox players are able to do the same. You can keep trying and maybe it will work eventually, but I gave up and just redeemed on console, where I found it more useful anyway.
I redeemed a whole bunch of working shift codes by registering on the gearboxsoftware website. I should have more than 100 golden keys by now for golden chest in the Borderlands 2. Some redemptions are shown below.
You can only redeem the codes in-game if both accounts are linked.I did find an entry on the official 2K support that explains how to link the PSN account to the SHIFT account for Tiny Tina's Wonderland and I assume that it works the same way for Borderlands 2.
In the past Borderlands 2 had issues with SHIFT codes on PS3 consoles when you linked the accounts via the website. If that still happens for you on the PS5 the solution was in the past to delete the existing link and to re-link the accounts, but this time you start the process from the PS5 and not the website.
Guns are everything in Borderlands 3, and players are quickly learning that Golden Chests often contain the absolute best that the game has to offer. As a result, SHiFT codes are invaluable. SHiFT codes unlock the Golden Keys needed for those chests. They can only be used once and should therefore be saved for the end of the game. Using a Golden Key earlier is a waste since players out-level their guns pretty quickly.
Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford provides a new SHiFT code every weekend (usually) that will expire after one week. Special events will occasionally produce more SHiFT codes, which we'll be sure to populate in the list above.
Various Gearbox social media accounts occasionally share SHiFT codes that are time-sensitive. Following these accounts and checking in every so often is a great way to boost the number of Golden Keys you have. The current list of social media accounts to follow is:
Other similar lists can be a great resource as they are updated by the community. For example, the Borderlands 3 subreddit will often contain permanent or weekly threads dedicated to compiling codes, so be sure to take a look at different communities in order to maximize the number of SHiFT codes you redeem.
In addition, SHiFT might be a fantastic cross-promotional tool with the ECHOCast extension. It allows Twitch viewers to participate in the actions of a streamer, and at times, awards loot to players for simply watching them. By viewing some of the more popular streamers in Borderlands 3, players can get a wide range of loot simply for observing.
Accessing Golden Keys is a bit of an unintuitive process. First, players must redeem the SHiFT code. After that, they must head to the main section of the social tab. The Keys are there, along with current and future DLC promotions.
Golden Chests are available on the Sanctuary 3 spaceship, which is only unlocked following the end of the fourth mission in the game, which sends players on a space-faring journey. In each chest, players will find loot that is at least labeled as uncommon rarity but can be even better.
For the most part, players have a wide variety of weapons to choose from throughout the game. Though it might be tempting to want to use the Keys right away, it is a far better idea to hold onto the Keys until the very end of the game.
The Vault Insider Program is no longer available. Before the release of Borderlands 3, the Vault Insider Program (also called VIP for short) was a way for us to reward fans for completing pre-launch activities, like watching trailers and engaging with social content. Now that Borderlands 3 is being enjoyed by millions of players like you, the Vault Insider Program is officially discontinued.
If you've landed on this page, you might've been trying to create a profile, redeem VIP codes, or earn VIP points and rewards. With the Vault Insider Program permanently discontinued as of May 18, 2020, VIP profiles and activities are no longer available, and unredeemed VIP points have been forfeited.
Rest assured that Gearbox Software will continue to support Borderlands 3 with free and paid content additions, and SHiFT codes for things like Golden Keys can be redeemed on Borderlands.com, on the Gearbox SHiFT site, or via the in-game Social menu in Borderlands 3.
Make sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and right here on Borderlands.com to stay up to date on all the latest Borderlands 3 announcements. To everyone who took part in the Vault Insider Program while it was active, thank you for your support in helping us make so much Borderlands mayhem!
