Hello very special everyone!
I so enjoyed doing the Lesson 7 - Righteousness - of Bertie Brits 5
minute bible school.

Question:Can we become righteous by what we do? Why not? Give 3
scriptures.

1. No we cannot become righteous by what we do, Jesus has done
everything on our behalf to be righteous – He became our
righteousness.
2Co 5:21 For He has made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that
we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Rom 10:4 Christ is the conclusion of the law, everything the law
required of man was fulfilled in Him; He thus represents the
righteousness of the human race, based upon faith (and not personal
performance). (Mirror translation)
“Rom 5:18-19 “The conclusion is clear: it took just one offence to
condemn mankind; one act of righteousness declares the same mankind
innocent!” (Mirror translation)
Phillips Translation “We see then, that as one act of sin exposed the
whole race of men to God’s judgement and condemnation, so one act of
perfect righteousness presents all men freely acquitted in the sight
of God!” “The disobedience of the one man exhibits humanity as
sinners, the obedience of another man exhibits humanity as righteous!”
kathistemi, to cause to be, to set up, to exhibit.” (Mirror
translation)r translation)

2. we cannot become righteous by what we do because we entered into
His rest - free from our efforts, performance, religion behaviour and
living according to right and wrongs
Rom 10:6-7 But faith understands that Christ is no longer a distant
promise neither is He reduced to a mere historic hero. He is mankind’s
righteousness now! Faith announces a righteousness that reveals that
man has been co-raised together with Christ from the region of the
dead. (Mirror translation)r translation)
Hos 6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will
raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

3. “The Holy Spirit can be oppressed and suppressed by religious
behavior , which is like sucking a deceptive pill of the devil, it
looks and behaves like the right thing, but the heart is far from it.
Religious Christian doctrine cannot cause my heart to burn in me.
Wherefore if you are dead with Jesus from the rudiments of this
world…..why....do you have carnal behaviour.?. ”touch not”, ”taste
not”. “Handle not”.You cannot get your flesh in line....only FAITH
can.”.where is your sting”.....we know God removed the sting from the
east to west on the cross, so that righteousness may be fulfilled in
us. There is no condemnation for them IN CHRIST who walks not after
the flesh BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT! Have you received the Spirit by the
works of the law?.....or hearing of FAITH.You’re either caught up in
the flesh with sin-consciousness....or the way God sees us in
HIM...the flesh cannot see that. Religious behavior cannot comprehend
the grace of God.“ (Snippets from Ken’ Thomas tape)

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I
live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me,and gave himself for
me.
Rom 6:8 Faith sees us joined in His death and alive with Him in His
resurrection.
Rom 6:10-11…This is the final testimony of the fact that sin’s power
over man is destroyed. Now it is all life as far as God is concerned.
His life reveals an uninterrupted union with the life of God.This
reasoning is equally relevant to you. Make the calculation, you died
and are now alive unto God. You are absent to sin and present with God
in Christ Jesus who is our Master. (Mirror translation)

Question:How do we become the righteousness of God? Find 3 scriptures
that support the context of Rom.5:1-5
1) We become the righteousness of God by His faith and not anything we
do
Rom 10:4 Christ is the conclusion of the law, everything the law
required of man was fulfilled in Him; He thus represents the
righteousness of the human race, based upon faith (and not personal
performance).(Mirror translation)
1 john 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on
the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us
commandment.
Rom 4:5 It is clear then that someone who believes that God is able to
justify the ungodly understands that it is his faith and not his toil
that counts for righteousness.
Rom 4:9 Is this blessing restricted exclusively to the circumcised or
extended also to the uncircumcised? Remember we are looking at Abraham
as an example; his righteousness was founded on faith (mirror
translation).
Rom 10:8 Faith-righteousness announces that every definition of
distance in time, space or hostility has been cancelled. “The Word is
near you, it is as close to you as your voice and the conviction of
your heart.” We publicly announce this message (because we are
convinced that it belongs to every man.)
Rom 5:1-2 Righteousness by faith realised means unlimited friendship
with God; this is the ultimate conclusion of the Gospel. Jesus Christ
is the legal authority (Lord) of our testimony. He has welcomed us with
open arms and reinforced the fact that our access into this grace-gift
is guaranteed by faith. We stand fully established in grace while we
boldly rejoice in all that God’s opinion communicates and anticipates
for us. (Our conviction is sponsored by His initiative) Mirror
translation
Php 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to His
riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
2Co 5:21 For He has made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that
we might become the righteousness of God IN Him.

Jesus was not made sin by doing sin. It was just put upon Him. In the
same way, righteousness was imputed upon us.God gave us a new spirit
and new heart.
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I
put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your
flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

Rom 10:9-10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Explain Rom.10:5-7.
We have been co-raised with Jesus and He is alive in us.
Rom.10:6-7 But faith understands that Christ is no longer a distant
promise neither is He reduced to a mere historic hero. He is mankind’s
righteousness now! Christ is no longer hidden somewhere in the realm
of heaven as a future hope. …Faith announces a righteousness that
reveals that man has been co-raised together with Christ from the
region of the dead. “Who will descend down into the abyss to bring
Christ back from the dead?” (Only those who deny the resurrection of
Christ will say such nonsense. They would argue that Jesus could not
have been the promised Messiah because He did not really rise from the
dead.)(mirror word translation)

Question: Find 10 scriptures in the Bible that endorse the statement:
"we are righteous by faith"

1) Abraham was regarded as righteous because of his faith
He believed he was what God said he was, “father of many nations” even
while he could not see and EXPERIENCE it.
Rom 4:9 Is this blessing restricted exclusively to the circumcised or
extended also to the uncircumcised? Remember we are looking at Abraham
as an example; his righteousness was founded on faith (mirror
translation).

2) 2Pet.1:1Through our righteousness of God that we have faith of
equal standing –We had nothing to do with it! All our needs have been
met, everything has been taken cared for, it is all good news and
blessings for us because of His gift.

3) Believing the finished work of Christ:
Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness
come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
If 1 died for all, then we all died. This does not make sense in the
natural... But by the Spirit’s faith in us it makes sense. In Christ
we died to sin and was made alive with Him.
That means righteousness by faith!
Rom 10:7 Faith announces a righteousness that reveals that man has
been co-raised together with Christ from the region of the dead.

4) Christ represents righteousness of the human race based upon faith
Rom 10:4 Christ is the conclusion of the law, everything the law
required of man was fulfilled in Him; He thus represents the
righteousness of the human race, based upon faith (and not personal
performance).(mirror translation)
As we confidently speak the same language that God speak of us, we are
identified with a higher level than just our flesh! Faith deals with
unseen realm of Gods word.We have a guarantee of the Holy Spirit, this
wonderful inner witness, who is faithful to perform in us!

5). The more we believe in His love the more peace we have.
Rom 5:1 We have been justified by faith, we have peace through Jesus
Christ.

6). Being circumsized in my heart, I’ve been made righteous
Col 2:11-13 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision
made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh
by the circumcision of Christ:Buried with him in baptism, wherein also
ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who
hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and
the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him,
having forgiven you all trespasses

Deu 30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the
heart of thy seed,to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and
with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

2Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We only have to believe it…... the completed work is done!!! Jippy !

7). slave of righteousness by his grace - All based on what God did!
We had nothing to do with being enslaved!
Rom 6:17-18The quality of teaching that your heart embraced has set a
new standard to become the pattern of your life, the grace of God
ended sin’s dominance.Sin once called the shots; now righteousness
rules. (Mirror translation)

8)Faith righteousness is for every human being to enjoy
Rom 10:8 Faith-righteousness announces that every definition of
distance in time, space or hostility has been cancelled. “The Word is
near you, it is as close to you as your voice and the conviction of
your heart.” We publicly announce this message (because we are
convinced that it belongs to every man.) (Mirror translation)

9) received the righteousness, and it will be manifested in our lives.
Rom 4:5 It is clear then that someone who believes that God is able to
justify the ungodly understands that it is his faith and not his toil
that counts for righteousness. (mirror translation)

10) Rom 3:21 ….Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of
Jesus Christ unto all and upon all of them that believe.
3:21 (This brings me back to the theme of my ministry, chapter 1:1, 2,
5,16,17.) Right now the righteousness of God (the fact that God
succeeded to vindicate sinful mankind in Christ) is boldly declared
and defined in vivid contrast to the inability of man to do it himself
(to be righteous by keeping the law.) This restored standing of man is
what both the law and all the prophetic writings anticipate and
confirm. (God’s dealing with man is based on the fact that man’s
conscience continues to bear witness to his original design. Rom.7:22)
(Mirror translation)
