Idid as was said in the instructions. I removed the device (from Devices and Printers) and its drivers (from printui /s). Then I selected the Yes option in Device Installation Settings, turned on the printer and connected it to the computer. Windows 10 installed TWO drivers - HP LaserJet 1022 and HP LaserJet 1022 Class Driver. I tried to print, but failed. Then I wanted to add some driver manually with the Add a Printer wizard, chose "The printer I want isn't listed", because there were not any printers in the list, and so on, according the instruction. But at the last step there was not HP LaserJet 1022 driver in the list of Windows Update, only LaserJet 1022n and LaserJet 1022nw. I stopped.
I disconnected the USB printer cable from the computer, removed the device and the drivers again, selected the No option in Device Installation Settings, added manually the driver HP LaserJet 1022 with the Add a Printer wizard (now it WAS in the list), removed the device which was added in the process, made sure that the driver is still in the system (using printui /s, and now there was ONE driver - HP LaserJet 1022). Then connected printer to computer, the device appeared again on USB001 port, and I could print.

I have a LaserJet 1022 which doesn't work with recently upgraded Windows 7 (64 bit). I downloaded the drivers from the site, but the printer properties in Windows says that it doesn't need drivers, yet it doesn't appear in my list of printers when I go to the print dialog. When I run the plug & Play basic driver wizard, it stalls at the point where it asks user to connect the device. Despite the device being connected (and displaying in Printers and Devices) the wizard just hangs at this point, and I have to cancel setup. Please help, I have to have a printer, and the reason why I chose this Laserjet is specifically because it is easy to install.
I switch the printer on at this stage, having made sure it is connected via USB. After this point, nothing happens. The driver does not continue to install, even though the printer is connected (and is displayed in Printers and Devices window). I have also tried to run a troubleshoot, Windows troubleshoot tells me it doesn't have a driver, but it can't find a driver, even when I manually point it to the folder where I downloaded the driver you suggest.
Hey Scooby. You wouldnt happen to be using a USB hub would you? If so plug the printer directly into the computer. Id suggest first working through this document to see if you can get it to recongize the printer: 'Device setup failed to complete' or 'Unknown device' Message Displays in Windows during USB Install...
No, no USB hub - straight into my laptop. I'll have a look at the doc, and see what can be done. I'm so bummed though, because I love that little printer, it's a real little workhorse, and I would hate to have to replace it.
I dont think replacing it is in order quite yet :robotvery-happy: See if the document helps provide a resolution and if not post back with any new details and we can move onto the next step from there.
we have about a dozen hp 1022 printers that we have a win7 64bit driver for and they mostly work BTW IMO these older HP printers are notorious for having printing issues with win7 64. Try looking for the 1022 driver, that should work.
There is also an HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update from Apple. An HP LaserJet 1022 version 1.6.1 driver is listed in the referenced article Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support. However, the System Requirements say Not compatible with macOS v12 and newer. If you try it anyway, it would be experimental as well. It may not open/install/work with macOS 13 Ventura. So, do not expect too much from this.
(avanti e dietro).
There is a Gutenprint driver hp-lj_1022 for the HP LaserJet 1022, but it is unknown to me whether it would work with anything later than macOS 10.14 Mojave. I have no idea about any difference regarding two-sided printing, though. Also, I do not normally recommend downloading printer drivers from other sites than the printer manufacturer or Apple.
I've been using the 1022 for many years through a number of Macs and versions of macOS. I can guarantee you that I have never seen a duplex printing option, manual or otherwise, and I have searched diligently.
I believe you, but can only go by the information provided by HP. See also the link to the manual right above (page 42f). A general article -en/document/ish_2486497-2193233-16 has some not very clear lines like "If the neither option is available, continue with these steps to print manually on both sides of the paper." and "If the Two-sided or Double-sided options are not available, select Paper Handling from the print options menu.".
To obtain a handle for a NETADAPTER object, first run the !ndiskd.netadapter command to see a list of all NIC drivers and NetAdapters on the system. In the following example, look for the handle for the NetAdapter named Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller NetAdapter Sample Driver #2. Its handle is ffffd1022d048030.
By clicking on this NetAdapter's handle or by entering the !ndiskd.netadapter -handle command with its handle on the command line, you can see details for this NetAdapter, including its NETADAPTER object. The Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller NetAdapter Sample Driver #2's NETADAPTER handle is 00002efdd0e5f988.
Because the NETADAPTER object is a WDF object, clicking its handle will cause the debugger to run the !wdfkd.wdfhandle command which will give you more information about it from a WDF perspective. To see more detailed information about the NETADAPTER from a networking perspective, click the "More Information" link to the right of the NETADAPTER's handle to run the !ndiskd.cxadapter command with its handle.

I am having problems with the sound volume when playing videos and as it does not happen in windows due to having the driver installed, how do I identify my sound card and install the driver of the same?
When the story first came out, no one was quite sure what was being done to the suspect FTDI chips. It was believed the damage was permanent. So one the nature of the disabling was determined you saw people describing it as soft bricking, or effectively bricking, etc; because while technically knowledgeable people could find and implement the fix, the average person could not.
They are not bricking anyones devices. The company released an update for THEIR hardware.. These people are taking this software and applying it to hardware it was not ment to support. They are essentially flashing the wrong firmware onto a device then wanting to blame the software for bricking the device.
YES they are bricking because they have intentionally done something that will knowingly break one or more users chips. If you purchase a used SONY TV at a flea market but it turns out that its really a cheap knock off then does that give SONY the right do something that will intentionally break your TV?
They release an update for THEIR hadware.. When you apply THEIR software to THEIR hardware.. everything works.. When you apply THEIR software to someone elses hardware.. is breaks.. Is this any shock?
There is such a thing as Common Sense. It makes no sense to shoot yourself in the foot and then come out with a lame excuse about going after the counterfeiters.
The counterfeiters have already sold their devices. Your customers only know that they have been stiffed.
FTDI supplies an update to the Windows OS, not to the device firmware. The owners of the devices are merely keeping their OS patches up to date, exactly as they should.
If FTDI does not want their driver to support unlicensed chips, then they should write the driver to refuse to work for those chips. They have absolutely no business flashing anything to any chip they did not make, and very little business flashing things to chips they did make without getting permission from the device owner first.
Malicious code protections are functionally equivalent to FTDI engineers busting into your house, examining all of your hardware, and confiscating any suspicious chips. The key here is that it is not law enforcement officials, with proof and proper warrants. It is just some random people busting into your place. In many parts of the world, you have the right not only to refuse to cooperate, but to shoot to kill such intruders.
