Production I.G adapted the manga into a 13-episode television anime series that aired in Japan from July to September 2014. The manga also received a live-action film adaptation, which opened in Japan in December 2014, topping the box office in its opening weekend with a 241 million yen (US$2.05 million) gross.

Ao Haru Ride received several adaptations during its run. A novelization by Akiko Abe ran in Cobalt. In 2014, a limited edition drama CD adaptation was released to promote the then-upcoming anime television series by Production I.G, which aired in July 2014. A live-action film adaptation was later released in December 2014. A live-action television drama adaptation is set to premiere in Q4 2023.

The title consisted of individual readings for the characters used for the word "youth" (青春, seishun), which were "blue" (青, ao) and "spring" (春, haru).[12] The phrase was then followed by the word "ride" because Sakisaka envisioned the image of "riding on youth."[12] Sakisaka had decided to have the title read "Aoharide" instead of "Ao Haru Ride" because the sounds flowed better.[12] The logo was designed by Yasuhisa Kawatani.[13] The bottom of the original Japanese logo contained the English text, "The scent of air after the rain. I heard your pulse. I saw the light." Kawatani drew inspiration from the song "I Saw the Light" by Todd Rundgren while designing the logo.[14] In Viz Media's English translation, the subtitle was reworded into, "The scent of air after the rain... In the light around us, I felt your heartbeat."[15]

A live action film directed by Takahiro Miki was released on 13 December 2014, starring Tsubasa Honda as Futaba Yoshioka and Masahiro Higashide as Kou Mabuchi.[5] Additional cast members included Izumi Fujimoto as Yuri Makita, Yua Shinkawa as Shuko Murao, Ryō Yoshizawa as Aya Kominato, and Yū Koyanagi as Mr. Tanaka.[5] Yudai Chiba and Mitsuki Takahata later joined the cast as Toma Kikuchi and Yui Narumi.[10] The film was first announced in March 2014 through Bessatsu Margaret.[8] To prepare for the role, Honda received hair extensions about 20 cm long in order to look more like Futaba.[5] The film's theme song is "Kirari" by Ikimono-gakari.[62] The film's soundtrack was released on 10 December 2014, featuring other artists including Rina Sumioka, Silent Siren, and Negoto.[63]

In June 2023, a live-action television drama adaptation was announced. The series is directed by Masato Kimura and Yūsuke Matsuda. It is set to premiere on WOWOW in Q4 2023 and run for eight episodes, with a second season set for later.[6], with Kaito Sakurai as Kou Mabuchi and Natsuki Deguchi as Futaba Yoshioka.

A live action movie adaption of the Ao Haru Ride Manga is to be broadcast on Japan on December 13th, 2014. This is announced last April 13, 2014 in the Bessatsu Margaret issue.[1] The filming began on April 1, 2014 at Toyama and Nagasaki, Japan.[2]

Originally created as a manga by Sakisaka in 2011, Blue Spring Ride quickly captured the hearts of readers. Its popularity soared, making it one of the best-selling manga titles in 2014. Following an equally successful anime adaptation, a live-action film brought the story to the big screen. And now, the love story returns with a TV series.

Aoharaido is a friendship and youth love story focused on a high schooler named Yoshioka Futaba, and her first love, Mabuchi Kou. The cast and crew for the live action will be announced in the next issue of Bessatsu Margaret.

An anime adaptation was released in Japan in July this year, and its final episode was aired just recently. However, those who were saddened by the short anime series have something new to look forward to! A live-action film adaptation of Ao Haru Ride is confirmed to be released in Japan this coming December 13th!

This anime is based off of an anime with 13 volumes and has a live action movie associated to it starring Higashide Masahiro. This is an excellent story that I fell in love with as the manga and I am glad that none of the renditions has destroyed this excellent story.

"Ao Haru Ride" depicts a high school girl Yoshioka Futaba's (played by Honda) youth and romance with her first love in her junior high school days Mabuchi Kou (Higashide), who Futaba has a reunion at the high school.

This film adaptation is directed by Miki Takahiro ("Bokura ga Ita"), and the whole movie is said to be shot in Toyama and Nagasaki.

Though Honda's trademark is her short hair, she wears 20cm long hair extensions to look more like Futaba. She commented, "I am a shy and introverted person, so I always admired straightforward and honest girl like Futaba-chan. Through this film, I hope I could change myself as well."

Higashide also commented, "By maximizing the beautiful and stylish charms of the original manga, I would like to make it a film that the fans of the original could say that the 'live-action adaptation is amazing too'."

Other cast members include Shinkawa Yua (as "Murao Shuko"), Yoshizawa Ryo (as "Kominato Aya"), Fujimoto Izumi (as "Makita Yuri"), and Koyanagi Yu (as "Tanaka Yoichi").

Live-action film "Ao Haru Ride" is set for release in December.
