Premier Soccer is a soccer game where you select a team and try to get them to the final and win it. You first select which continent you want to play in before selecting a country from that continent. You also have four choices of how close you want the camera to be when playing.
The actual match is played from a top-down side view where the pitch scrolls where the player with the ball moves. All the usual football rules are there with free-kicks, penalties, throw-ins and corners. The ref will also make an appearance if a yellow or red card is brandished. You control a player with a joystick and various fie-buttons to select different kicks or tackles. Win the game and it's on to the next round and a harder opponent.
I won't explain soccer / footballs rules in this guide unless there is something odd that the current or recent rules don't have. If you need to look up rules of the game there are many websites out there such as Wikipedia and I don't need to repeat info here.
Passing:
If you are at the ball, press A to do a short pass. This pass is usually going nowhere and it's done blindly. Forget Fifa/PES direct passing to another player - this is just a short tap in the direction you are pressing. It may arrive, it may not, you could even be running after it and still reach it yourself. Usually the best method would be to pass and then press the opposite direction so the players at the front fall back to receive it.
Press B to do a long lob. Again, it goes anywhere you punt it at and usually the opponent just grabs it so I hardly ever bothered - not that I'm good at the game but I just realized it would never get me anywhere.
Shooting:
As you get to the front of the goal the passing will switch to a kick move. Press to do a simple shoot if you are facing the goal, but it will do a pass/lob like the passing mode if you are not facing the goal. I won't bother with a strategy section for this so I'll give you the hint here: always try to shoot diagonally onto goal, from around the corner or closed of the penalty area. This will sometimes result in a direct goal, but often just bounce off the goalie and another player can pick it up and try again. It may go wide, may hit the bar or go over, but this was the best way to score when I was playing.
If the ball bounces around the penalty area you can try to tap it into the goal with a nearby player. Use the A button to try and volley it in, I've even seen overhead kicks but they spectacularly hit the bar only - so sad. If you press B the player will try to do a jumping header. They tend to fly past the ball way to often and would probably look excellent if the game would allow for easier player control. If you are not facing the goal and press A then the player will just do a sliding tackle which isn't really that great around the area here, and pressing B will have the player stand there and do a silly nod with the head - this happens way too often because directly facing the goal seems not easy.
Corner Kicks:
If the ball goes out the goal line by the opposite team you get a corner kick. In that case you have two options to deliver it in. Press A for a short pass to a nearby player (hopefully) who will pick it up and shoot from there. But..I don't recommend it because the opponent will just tackle the hell out of you and run away with the ball. Instead, deliver it in long with the B button and try one of the volleys or headers as described in the shooting section.
Goalkeeper:
When the goalkeeper has the ball in his hands or on the ground for a goal kick, pressing B will do a long-ish kick. I say long-ISH because it's not really far, doesn't even leave your half and is easily picked up by the attackers to try and score. So, this is always frickin' risky and what I started doing EACH time was to immediately press the direction of my own goal to have a defender come towards the ball and pick it up. This usually avoids the situation as above but the striker is still easily able to tackle you and move towards goal - not a very realistic and rather frustrating "feature" of the game.
Exciting Soccer: Konami Cup is a American soccer/European football game developed by Konami and published for the Famicom Disk System early on in 1988. It is, in fact, the second only Soccer game developed for play on the Famicom since the original Soccer title was published by Nintendo in 1985. It is part of Konami's "Exciting Sports" series, which also includes Exciting Baseball and Exciting Basket.
Players select one of the various soccer teams, and aim to become the best team in the league. Each team possesses different levels of kick strength, endurance, dribbling technique, defensive skill, and luck. They are set at the beginning of the game, but can be enhanced through training. During play, the view of the field is a bird's eye view, with either goal located at the far top and bottom sections of the field. Although this game is considered a relatively minor release, it's ending BGM entitled "Seaside Memory" is highly revered.
