Ithen used the "Install CUPS printer" option in the Printers folder. Using the CUPS add printer option I pointed it to the PPD file when prompted. The setup then identified the Brother printer and completed the driver installation seemingly correctly with no errors. However, just as with my last printer (also a Brother laser printer) absolutely nothing would print. Despite the CUPS setup having identified the printer each time I tried to print I received an error stating that the printer could not be found.

Just as with my last printer, the only way I could get the printer to actually print was to change the output to an SLPR port. In this instance, I added an SLPR port, changed the "LPD Server" to the address of the printer, left the "LPD printer" as the default * and left the "High performance" and "LPRPORTD Compatible" options unchecked.

Doing the above allowed me to immediately print to the printer. I was able to print emails successfully and PDF files immediately. However, when I tried to print anything from OpenOffice V4.1.3 nothing would print, there was no error message and nothing in the queue. Anything I tried to print seemingly just vanished. I did find the solution though I have no idea why it works. What solved the problem of being unable to print was to open the printer driver options, go to the "Queue Options" tab and check the box next to "Print while spooling". Doing this immediately allowed me to print using OpenOffice 4.1.3I still find setting a printer using CUPS to be confusing and have never managed to get it to work without having to change the output port to SLPR.I am now printing successfully from ArcaOS5.0 to the Brother L6200DW over a network connection. I have not tried to connect the printer via USB or wifi as I have no plan to use either of these methods.

If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter Brother HL-L6200DW(T) into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.

There are no notable cups error logs besides for 2 D lines (debug) about missing files (i forgot what they were, one was something with an lpdfilter file). i tried finding the files on my system and copying/linking but it didnt help. I had to remove print config manually from printers.conf at one point because the config was causing cups to use all my RAM...

I pushed an update to the latest version, but my printer is currently setup a different way and I can't actually test this at the moment (eventually I'll get it back to using this driver). Be cautious before upgrading, I'm not 100% sure the new patch works.

@maderios Hello! Correct place, I sadly lost ownership of this account because I lost the email to it, if you would like me to I would more than gladely make the edits for you, just email me at codez...@gmail.com :)

WSD is nice in theory, but in the field it presents no end of problems. Printers that go offline due to paper out or other minor problems often fail to reconnect until you power cycle the printer. IPP drivers often only offer basic printer functionality and fail to provide duplexing and other features. Typically I prefer to disable WSD right at the printer as Windows has a nasty habit of dumping your installed printer for a WSD/IPP combo during updates. Not sure if brother has anything comparable, but HP offers a utility as part of their UPD package that allows you to create an installer package you simply have the users run and you configure All the settings the way you want them once when you create the package.

Great thing about this is that they will all be setup the same with the same name and port names. You can also use the Print Management GUI to export and import the printers. And you can save that file and reuse it when a PC is replaced.

Printing with this device has several advantages with many new specifications. The printer requires a modern laser print technology with the electrophotographic method. The combination allows for the optimum performance of the printer model. The device also has a standard input capacity of 256 MB of RAM with an ability to combine effects with the processor. The printer displays its status and receives instruction through its liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. LCD screen component measures up to 1.8 inches in diagonal with a TFT touchscreen. It also supports up to 16 characters and a single line.

The peak performance of the Brother HL-L6200DW printer is approximately 1368 watts at an average temperature of 250C. When it comes to printing or copying, the measure of energy consumption is about 670 watts on average. However, at the same time, the quiet mode requires energy worth 375 watts at the same temperature. The active method requires up to 32 watts. The sleep mode uses 6.7 watts only while deep sleep takes 1.3 watts. The power off mode takes up to 0.03 watts of energy only at this temperature.

The physical dimensions of the printer include a width of about 287 mm, and the width is approximately 373 mm. Similarly, the height of the printer is up to 388 mm while the weight is about 26.3 lbs (11.9 kg). The supported paper type include plain, letterhead, thick, thin, and colored papers. The paper sizes may consist of standard and custom sizes that also vary, such as A4, A5, A6, legal, letter, and folio. The paperweight can still be between 16 and 32 lbs. The input tray can hold up to 520 sheets.

The Brother HL-L6200DW printer also has a multipurpose tray that can accommodate up to 50 sheets of 20 lbs with a maximum of 53 lbs. The output tray of this Brother HL-L6200DW printer can hold up to 150 sheets of printed paper in a face-down pattern. Download Brother HL-L6200DW driver from Brother website

I have a new MacBook Air and a new Brother HL-L5200/dtw printer. I am a notary and print loan signing packages that include both legal and letter size pages. When I use my old PC, I select "Choose paper size by PDF page size" and everything prints fine. However, when using my Mac, all the pages print on both sides of the paper and either prints everything on legal or letter. I have deleted and downloaded the driver twice and Brother tells me that it is an Adobe problem. Also tried this file on my daughter's Mac and had the same issues. I have Mac Sierra Ver 10.12.4. HELP!

Sadly I did more investigating online and in this adobe community forum and found many with the same issue and no answers. And this issue has been around going back to 2016 apparently. I plugged in an old Windows 7 computer and magically it all works. I am being very sarcastic. I found this FIX by reading hundreds of people with the same issue. I would suggest clearly advertising that Adobes DOES NOT work with MAC and Brother printers. Period!

And let me add. I need to use the choose paper source option because I am printing letter and legal sizes from the same PDF just like all the other people that have reported the same exact problem. Adobe does nor have a fix for 4 years. So unless something has drastically changed and Adobe is able to suddenly have a fix that should have been done already due to the customer complaints then I will be using a different PDF opener with my MAC. I have wasted an entire day trying to figure this out.

As a new LSS/LSA/NSA, I just purchased a Brother HL-L6200DWT and I too have the same problem with printing mixed size papers within the same PDF file when using with my MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and MacBook. Therefore I firmly believe something is off with Adobe's ability. ( worked fine with Windows)

note: before I updated the adobe reader, it was able to print mixed size papers BUT pages would get cut off. Then after updates, it will only print on either legal or letter size. The autodetext/autoselect within Adobe has definitely messed up.

When I print a large (100+) PDF file with mixed legal and letter it initially works for the first 10 or 20 pages but eventually the pages get cut off with legal pages being printed half way down the page and/or cut off. It is as though the data being sent to the printer eventually becomes "corrupted" so that it is unable to print correctly.

WORKAROUND: Rotate the view of all of the pages by 180, so it looks upside down on the screen.

Then print the document as usual, and all the pages should print completely. You cant do the rotate with the free version of Adobe Reader BUT you can open the PDF using Apple Preview, rotate the pages, save it and then re-open it in Adobe Reader for printing. This worked for me.

It would still be nice if Adobe could confirm the issue (using a larger test file than 2 pages) and fix the problem. I have attached a 21 page test.pdf using the same pages from the two page test file Adobe originally used. I am able to replicate the issue using this file everytime.

Have you tried replicating it using the test file I have attached here? It is the same as the one you provided accept with mine I created 21 mixed pages of the same legal and letter sizes. I have also attached a results file where I scanned back what the pages look like when I print the test file.

Bespocito - Just noticed that there is an additional BR-Script3 driver right after the 2 we "should be" using, called "Brother HL-L6202DW BR-Script3." Given that there is no HL-L6202 model, I'm wondering if they just incremented the filename? I've tested and it works for only 2 pages. I didn't find your file example to test with and don't know how to make my own test doc w/o an acrobat license.

For those illiterate to troubleshooting Mac printer drivers (NEVER thought I'd have to do that again since MacOS Tiger), the only way I've figured out how to change the driver is simply by deleting your printer and readding. The driver can then be selected when choosing the print and modifying the last field below called "Use:" and click "Select Software." You'll then see every driver that locally exists on your mac. Make sure you've grabbed the latest drivers from Brother's website.
