I have continual problems syncing video shot with one camera to several audio tracks recorded in Reaper. I just bought a DVD with Pluraleyes 4 and wait for it's delivery. Unfortunately I didn't realize it seems to be tied to other programs like Premiere Pro or Resolve. Can it be used outside of these programs? Thanks.

I'm trying to synch camera and external audio in a timeline exported from Avid using Pluraleyes. I exported an AAF the way the Redgiant software company descibed in their tutorial but when I import the AAF into Pluraleyes it says my videos have no audio tracks. I imported the .mov and the .wav files from my external audio straight into pluraleyes with no problem. But going through the Avid AAF way it doesn't work....

I recently updated to the new Premiere 2018, and am having trouble with Pluraleyes. I installed the Pluraleyes update, but it still isn't working properly. When syncing media within Premiere with Pluraleyes it didn't work at all... so I synced media within Pluraleyes and exported into Premiere but that didn't work. I tried importing other XML files and the window pops up as though it is importing but nothing ever imports.... please help!

I'm having the same issue. I've noticed that when I use the extension within premiere, it syncs and creates a sequence, but right clicking and trying to locate that sequence in premiere crashes. I've also saved the crash report and reached out to Red Giant but have not received a response from them yet.

I finally decided on my MacBookPro late 2011 upgrade to MacOs Sierra High. I had a lot of problems with all the configuration, the laptop became crazy and the same thing started to happen again even if before upgrading I had erase and unistalled all the Adobe package and many old applications that I liked but I decided to sacrify because I really need to do some urgent project to send to an application for documentary films.

Finally with the Adobe online support I got a link for a real cleaning of the system, then an upgrade link for the Creative Cloud manager app that was causing a kernel panic. I upgraded all to the 2018 version... and it seems to work more or less. (it had restart the computer twice already today with a normal manipulation in a sequence editing workflow)

So I figured out a workaround to the issue. I used the Plural Eyes extension within Premiere Pro to sync everything, at which point it creates a new sequence in Premiere Pro. HOWEVER, this sequence does not actually exist within Premiere Pro, because when you try to locate it in the project it is nowhere to be found. Also, upon closing your project, the sequence created by Plural Eyes will disappear. SO, just immediately copy the contents of the timeline that Plural Eyes synced within Premiere to a brand new sequence. Then save. Voila. Quite a pain in the ass but its the best solution I've found to this issue.

Just spent an hour on phone with Adobe. I contacted Red Giant (Pluraleyes) first with no luck. I was creating xml sequences both in and out of Premiere and trying to import them with no luck. Just wouldn't import. Not even an error code.

Just had issues with Plural Eyes and came to this post hoping for answers. Didn't get the ones I was looking for as I already had the box unchecked in premiere preferences that says "allow duplicate media during project import" BUT I did get around it so I figured I'd share.

Anyway, I felt like I should report that when I import the xml into premiere it hangs on that import progress box (not moving) for a few minutes actually, until it pops in and all is well. So, if others have this issue, perhaps just wait it out. It doesn't look like it's working, and you can even tap that progress box and it switches to that "not responding" look where it looks as if premiere is gonna crash, but sure enough within a couple minutes or so of waiting (at least on my PC which has top 2015/16 specs and over 100 video clips and 100 audio clips) the sequence(s) do import properly and all is well.

However, this time the reason I came to this post is because after waiting a few minutes, that progress box disappeared and nothing imported. I closed premiere and Plural Eyes a few times and even restarted my computer with no luck. Finally, I deleted that sequence with all the clips, made a new sequence, dropped all those clips on there again and sent it to plural eyes and it worked. Still took the few minutes to import the XML but at least it came through this time. This might not help anyone but figured just in case I'd share it in hopes that it helps someone one day. Cheers.

In this situation using a clapper can be a bit of drag, especially if your working alone, it can also be quite distracting for the interviewee as they can feel more pressured. Working with two cameras and dual system sound is something I can just manage on my own, but having to clap in the shots is one part that I can really do without.

before we go to much further have a quick watch of the video below in which Bruce Sharpe of Singular Software describes the basic operation of pluraleyes. Press the monitor icon to see the video full screen.

Only Version 3 of PluralEyes works with Avid not Version 4 and I would stay away from creating new files. Actually stay away from PluralEyes altogether especially with Avid. You will have relink issues with both your Video and Audio. Especially if the Audio is going to a separate mix outside of Avid and you create new files. The Audio guys will want the Original Audio and there will be no link back to any of it. I really find PluralEyes to be less than great, even with Premiere. It always brings in random Master Clips which then need to be sorted through and cleaned up.

As for Perf Slipping I always turn on 4 Perf Slipping.
If the TC is good I AutoSync by TC and then Perf Slip.
If the Audio Guy always starts rolling before the Cameras and Stops after the Cameras then Perf Slipping is a breeze.
We always discuss this with the Audio Guys Pre Production and they generally are pretty good about doing so.

We're shooting on a few 5Ds and I'm wondering how good of a job Plural Eyes software will do in syncing it all up. Especially that the mics on the 5D aren't good, so I wonder how it will perform with using the 5D's mics as reference for sync.

I typically use a Sennheiser G2 to send a guide track to the cameras. This should - in my mind - yield better results. The audio on the camera will be better sounding coming from my system vs the on camera mic - and will be less prone to issues like wind noise - or issues with distance to the actors (say you have a really long lens, and the actors are barely audible from camera position).

I haven't seen the plural eyes program in action myself. Most of the editors I work with love it. I have posted a few projects where the app was used (I did both the location recording and post edit/mix) and I have to say that there were numerous sync issues. I had to spend time evaluating and correcting multiple scenes.

I've done a ton of field recording with the 5D and 7D (me being the sound mixer and the camera ops using those cameras). It definitely helps to use a spare wireless unit to send a guide track so Plural Eyes has something better to work with, especially if it is an outdoor shoot. I have also heard about the drift issue and the lengthy work flow. I use a Sound Devices 744t which has a far more stable clock than any DSLR on the market. I am still a firm believer in a solid timecode lock between camera and audio, and using a timecode slate or at least a basic clapper. Relying on Plural Eyes is very risky because it is still a rather new tool in the tool box.

I am holding off on this upgrade VP15. I am not even bother to install the trial version because I have read some reports here that installing VP15 effectively disabled other plugins, such as Mercali Version 4 and Plural eyes and many others, newblux FX etc. Magix needs to develop VP15 to live a long side with others that have installed before. VP15 needs not to messed with others softwares when installing.

If you aren't using some sort of software to sync audio, you're sitting in your edit bay manually matching audio to video queues, be that sounds, video hints or timecodes. But what if you could just dump all your camera footage from an interview and all the audio from your recorder into one program and hit one button to sync them all quickly and accurately? You can with Red Giant Pluraleyes, and it's nearly perfect.

Now, the downside of the process in Premiere is you actually need to know exactly what audio clip corresponds to the video clip with which you want to sync. When your editing folders look like this...

...That might not be the easiest approach. You see, I don't remember which audio file went with which video file. The more I shoot, and the more I shoot before I get back to my main workstation, the worse this becomes. I can feasibly spend hours just trying to figure out which audio clip corresponds with which video clip.

I have found some hiccups though. Sometimes multiple syncs on the same batch of footage can result in different results. When would this happen? For example, if I bring in a batch of video files and a batch of audio files and I'm not sure which audio files I need, I often will just drag in a bunch and delete the extraneous ones after syncing. The problem here, though, is that sometimes audio and video clips that it once successfully synced oddly don't sync the next time, and I'm left with 95% of my work done instead of 100%. It's not a big deal because I can usually easily fix the one or two clips that failed to sync right very quickly in Premiere, but I would certainly like the product to work 100% how they say it will 100% of the time.

I also ran into an issue where Sony a7S footage was unrecognized by the software, which was bizarre. I haven't had any trouble with other camera brands generating the same file type as the a7S video clips, so it was pretty strange that this was happening.
