I have two computers (Win7) sitting in a new office with no hard wired connections (yet). They both are using wireless to connect to a router (some distance away) for internet access, at least until I can run cable to the office. The network connections themselves seem pretty stable, although the signal strength is typically "good" it can drop to "fair" at points. ID seems to be a little flaky with this setup, the slave become unresponsive every couple of minutes.
I was wondering if I could use a cross-over cable to connect these two computers, taking advantage of their unused ethernet ports. Has anyone done this successfully?
Theoretically, I should just be able to create an ad-hoc network with the cross-over cable and tell ID to use that "preferred network interface", correct?
