Input Director Version 1.2.2 (Build 76)
Master: Windows 7 (64 bit)
Slave: Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit)

Both computers have multiple network interfaces (wired, wireless,
VPN, ...) and I have already set the preferred network interface under
global preferences.

Copy/Paste from Windows 7 Master to Windows 2008 slave ALWAYS results
in the keyboard mouse stalling for about 20-30 seconds and the well
known "Clipboard paste failed; unable to retrieve clipboard data from
remote system" error. The other way around NEVER generates this error.

Occasionally the error will produce after a local copy/paste on
Windows 7 and then simply transitioning to the 2008 machine.

Until a couple of weeks ago the Windows 7 machine was running VISTA
(32 bit) and ID worked flawlessly in that setup for about a year.
After the re-install the trouble started.

I really used to do a lot of copy/paste between both machines so this
really bothers me... When I work at home the Win7 laptop is used for
mail and the 2008 desktop for "everything else". Now that I am no
longer able to copy/paste stuff from my mails to my work machine the
current setup is far less effective...

Help... please ....

Regards,

Eric

OK... I've done a bit more browsing on the forum and I came across
build 88.

After the upgrade I experienced the "failed transition" problem
mentioned in some other posts. I immediately suspected the McAfee HIPS
product (Host Intrusion Protection) and put both the firewall and the
app monitoring parts of it in "adaptive learning mode".

Unlike build 76, this time I got rule update prompts not simply for
the transitioning (that happened in 76 too) but also a prompt when I
tried to do the copy/paste operation. This updated the McAfee HIPS
ruleset properly and now everything works fine.

Shane, do you recommend the use of build 88 or is there another
version between 76 and 88 that you would recommend instead (or that
you would like me to try to see if everything works there as well) ?

Thanks for a great product,

Eric

Hi,

Build 88 is best one to try. If it wasn't for lack of time of late, I
would have updated this from EXPERIMENTAL to BETA. It's stable and
it's fixing several of the common problems that folks email me about.
I'm now hoping to release the next update early in the near year.

Regs,

Shane.

Hi Shane,

I find that when I reboot my systems, Input Director starts
automatically but I get a warning message saying the shared clipboard
is not available.
If I shut it down and restart Input Director it starts up just fine.

This happens on several systems (xp, win 2003 server, windows 7_

Any idea what's going on and what I can to to fix it?

Thanks and Happy Holidays,
Pete
